STUNNING animation of New Orleans flooding on nola.com! (Flash required)
http://www.nola.com/katrina/graphics/flashflood.swf

This is the best timeline -- the best anything -- I've seen that relates what happened to N.O. before and after Katrina. The Times Picayune really deserved the Pulitzer they received.

The wind and lightining sound effects are a bit much, but people in New orleans rightfully keep a dark sense of humor about them these days. The houseboat at the Louisiana Swamp exhibit at the Audubon Zoo has a blue roof, abandoned refrigerator, MREs and an X on the wall (marking the number of "bodies"; thankfully there were none).

1. Saw this last night, good animation, clearly shows how flood happened.
I like the wind and lightening sound effects though, am a connoisseur of dark humor.

2. This gets a K & R from the hound contingent.
I think I have, for the first time, an accurate idea of just how bad it was.

3. Hurricane season starts in 2 weeks.
Maybe the Bush administration hasn't been doing more to clean up because they're hoping the next hurricane will do it for them.
Bastards.
