I will do anything possible to keep Hillary Clinton in the Senate.
But if she dares run for President, I'll do whatever I can to defeat her.

She is simply not a person I could ever think of as a representative of my interests, and I think of her as a moderate republican in disguise rather than ANY sort of Democrat or Progressive.

Should she get the nomination, we will elect another Republican, and I cannot allow that to happen without a fight.

I think Jacob Javits and Ken Keating were to the left of Hillary.

4. So you won't support the Democratic party nominee in 2008 if..
it's Hillary? I assume you will be fighting this crusade outside of this forum.

8. The OP is Obviously Talking about the Primaries
Should she get the nomination, we will elect another Republican, and I cannot allow that to happen without a fight.

This rather strongly implies support for the Democratic nominee, mixed with concern that Hillary would lose.
A concern that many of us share.

16. Support our party? That was a stupid thing to say
Of course we will. But we have to think long and hard on who best represents our ideals along with who can win so it's kind of a balancing act and if she isn't just trying to get the fence sitters to vote with us or if she is what some of us think---however I can't really beleive that she isn't what we thought she stood for. God help us!

5. So you would want her making laws, but not being a diplomat?
If you consider her a republican, congress is the LAST place you should want her. As president, she wouldn't be able to make any laws that you don't agree with.

17. One vote in 100 on making law...
I can live with that. She's a moderate Republican, and I think that isn't a bad thing if her State wants her representing them. If the Senate were full of moderate Republicans rather than Neocons we would not be in such a horrible mess. (We'd still be in a mess though.)

11. Ben, I totally agree with you.
If for no other reason than the negative way in which she has impacted the battle to rid ourselves of paperless e-voting, I oppose Hillary with a passion.

Her S1986 was the worst possible answer to the BBV issue. When efforts were made to form a combined (compromise) bill that would allow the Senate to have only one bill (combining, if I recall correctly S1980, S1986 and S2045), her efforts largely spoiled the attempts to get a solution that could be passed in time for Nov 2004.

13. We should all realize that Hillary Clinton is...
the Republican choice for our Democrat candidate. She is similar to Kerry - the republicans want her because they know she can be defeated - just like Kerry. (Ok, I know Kerry really won), It just makes it easier to accept the outcome.

When FOX news and all the rabid right talk show hosts always refer to 'Hillary for President" we know this is their propaganda to get her nominated. No one on the left says 'hillary for President'. And it is truly wide spread and runs deep - I have talked to many Republicans and the very first thing they say is "I will never vote for Hillary".

We need to have our candidate running - not the ones the republican spin machine nominates.

(remember Mr. Dean - one scream and he was out and Kerry was forced fed to us)

14. Hey, easy for YOU to say.
Looks like I'll be stuck with her for my Senator for another SIX years. Better than in the White House, tho, where she will have even greater power.

I fell for the "universal Health care" three card monte game she ran in 1993. I had hoped that as a Senator she would at least pretend to liberal vales, but I'll never mistake her for a democrat again.

At this point, BartCop accuses me of being a bush lover. I guess that's the left's 2006 version of n***** lover.

18. She is my Senator too
Even though I have very mixed feelings about her, I will vote for her again over the likes of a Pirro, Cox, Spencer, or TRUMP (ROLF). Who will challenge her for the Dem nomination? I haven't heard of anybody (can't vote in Primary anyway).

If she does decide to make a run for the Presidency, she still has to win the Primary, remember. Also, you do know that 4 years in a row she was voted the Most Adorned Woman in the Country? For so many people who supposedly HATE her, that is a fluke?

As far as the National picture, I will NEVER vote for the likes of this current "Republican" crop. I am not even a Democrat either (life long Independent). RUDY? Joking, right? The BULLY? I did not develop amnesia after 9/11. GEORGE ALLEN. What are they insane? McCain? Bush smeared his ass in 2000 and the man continues to kiss it. No, thanks. And I used to even like the man; McCain, NOT BUSH. No more. Rice? Again, ROFL.

They (the Republicans) are the ones in TROUBLE, not the Dems. There are a lot of good candidates "we" have. Let Hillary fight it out and let the chips fall where they may.

I'm far more alligned with anti war Dems to be able to vote for HC. But if she were to get the nomination - I just can't stay home or vote third party or write-in. I know in my heart that I just couldn't do it.

20. I like Hillary, I want her re-elected to the Senate, but if something does
Happen and she becomes our 2008 Presidential nominee, then I'll support her 110%. Whoever is our 2008 Presidential nominee I'll support 110%, no matter who it is.

I myself want our 2008 ticket to be Warner/Clark...but should they not be our 2008 ticket then whoever is, will get my total support.

I'm all for her being president..of her local bowling league. As for her being a senator, I'd rank her right up there with names like Lieberman and Biden.

26. Oh please.... You're joking right?
Any other talk is repuke? Funny Hannity, O'Reilly and Rush have been pushing Hillary as the candidate since the 04' election. The Repukes want her to run

You people can flame me all you want, if she gets the nomination I'll be voting green or independant. I held my nose and voted for Kerry last time, for all the good it did. That was the last time I vote for someone I don't believe in....

27. I remember the bitter debates over the primaries last time
jeez, there were people who left this forum over things that were said over Dean, and I almost did. Every time I mention Kerry in a negative manner, I also get shot down and you know I don't think it's the most effective way for us to work, and I'm sorry for that. If Kerry ran and was our candidate, I'd go out and work the phones again and I'd put signs on my car and my condo window. Really. I think we need to have an unconditional loyalty to our party or it won't get us anywhere. What we need to do is to have a core belief amongst us all. If you can't get behind the party platform then you aren't a member of the party. We should concentrate on the party platform, not the candidate. If we work within our local areas and some of us can become delgates than we can do something besides pissing in the wind about the 2008 election.

32. Well when you put a statement like that in
that's what's going to get recognized. Besides I'm not a "member" anyway I'm registered as an independent. And you are never going to get all Dems to agree on a platform. I do wish you luck in trying however. I can't imagine Hillary getting in on an anti-war platform...
