My wife is gonna be fine - a good day today!

Today she sat in wheelchair from 8 am to 5:30, talking with us about stuff, including a baby shower that she missed yesterday (that she remembered without being prompted), and Wednesday she couldn't remember what day it was for more than 10 minutes. Her speech was slow, but it was clear. Based on what they saw today, Dr's predict recovery to at least 90%, it will just take awhile.

This was a very good day for me! Thanks for the moral support in earlier post.

I had a family member who recovered from a head injury. It took time but I would say he's at least 90% back to normal and that really is close enough considering the state he was in right after the accident.

19. Great news! Was your wife at Shands in Gainesville?

If so, the staff is great there and the care is, too. My partner had an aneurysm 4 1/2 yrs ago and was airlifted there. They saved her life. It's been a long recovery and she's certainly not 100%, but doing better all the time.

You are going to need strength, patience and help from family and friends. I wish your wife a full and speedy recovery!

Hosp. I've heard good things about the rehab hosp. Oldest daughter is ex ray tech for an orthopedic surgeon, and he sends his patients who need that sort of assistance there

I had an accident in June'03 and I would have had major head injuries if not for my full face helmet. Use it or lose it, I say!
