Who would support a War Fast in protest of the Iraq War.
We all can't go 2 mo. without food.. but a fast (eating only at sundown) may catch on a little easier and when your co-workers ask why you aren't eating lunch you can explain it is due to a War Fast?

2. I wouldn't support it, here's why
Because it represents naive thinking. Fasts, protests and the like worked in the past because political leaders cared about public image. We're dealing with insane theocrats here. Come back to me when you think of something that will actually threaten their agenda

3. It defines a statement.. the more people who show
sacrafice and real care.. will show that the nation doesn't support this war. Until we take action, they will continue to ignore us. And I think we need to show the world that we are committed to somethin, we are not lazy and self-absorbed, that we care about morality and justice. I think we need something peaceful and big. Its not that hard not to eat for about 12 hours. And it shows effort and initiative.

4. It's an ok idea,
but the way Sheehan and others are doing it makes it a laughingstock.

They blew it. The tactic is blown.

6. I made the suggestion at CodePink to do it as a day thing
and allow food at sundown... that way more people could get involved. I could never get my husband to agree to no food for a week.. but he would be willing to do it as a daytime fast. I signed up to support the fast on July 7th for a week... I know that by drinking teas and juices it is possible. Liquid diets were a huge fad back in the day.. Even Oprah did it to loose weight. But I think more people could keep up with a daytime fast and sundown eating to show real support for bginging home our troops.

5. I did the 24 hour fast in solidarity with Cindy on the 4th.
I am up for almost ANYTHING to stop the illegal occupation of Iraq.

7. Sorry, no.
I do landscaping for a living. I can't possibly do my job without food/fuel.

I just don't think going hungry all day is going to change anything.

8. The only thing that will change anything is publicity.
And the way this tactic was used by Hollywood types seems to have undermined the tactic.

We have to be genuine, not a 24-hour fast, or a phony fast.

10. A Hunger Strike is a great idea but
you don't expect the Media to care do you? and they will work hard to keep such strikes out of the Country's collective consciousness.

11. I wish the food bullies would stop trying to hijack the antiwar movement
Wanna fast? Convert to Islam and leave me the fuck alone.

I've starved for real, and not by choice. People who get all self-righteous about that shit should be killed, seasoned, cooked and eaten IMHFO.
