NEW YORK By now, members of Congress ought to know that appearing on Stephen Colbert's "Better Know a District" segment on his nightly Comedy Central program is like walking across a minefield. Some survive with their dignity intact, many don't -- like the fellow who let Colbert comb his moustache.

Thursday night's segment produced a new "high" for the "Colbert Report" show, depending on your outlook.

Rep. Robert Wexler, a Democrat who represents the Boca Raton area in Florida, skated through the first part of the interview segment with good humor. Colbert usually poses offbeat or absurd questions and traps his guests into making

7. In the '83 Governors race a reporter told Edwin Edwards that
Dave Treen wanted to know what he did with the $1M fee he got for representing Texaco in a case against the state. Edwin said, "tell that son of a bitch I spent it all on hookers and cocaine."
