I'm simply acknowledging the possibility. However, we've got some congressional and gubenatoreal races to win in just a few months and an electronic electoral theft system to beat before we even consider 2008 seriously.

Given the success of "An inconvenient Truth" and his seeming reincarnation as the Real Gore, people seem to be willing to listen to him. And I don't think DUers are alone in wondering "What if..."

I'm don't really see how he could lose. He won the popular vote in 2000 - is there ANYONE that voted for him then that wouldn't vote for him in '08? I could certainly be wrong, but it seems to me that's where he STARTS. Add to that the incompetence of our Rethug led government, the discontent with the "direction of the country", the success of "An Inconvenient Truth"; I don't see any other Democrat that even comes close.

But porphyrian is right - we really should be worrying about the elections coming up in a few months. A lot can happen in two years, and if we don't pull this one out it may not matter what happens in '08.

I think Democrats could easily rally around Gore in the primaries. He's one of the few Democrats not tainted by Iraq. He's right on the environment. He could raise a boat load of money. So, yes he could with the nomination.

In a general election, the Repugs roughed him up pretty good in 2000. Did he learn from that? If he did, he has a great chance to win the election. The Repugs will come at him hard again, but this time the public may not be so quick to buy the bullshit. Compared to Bush, Gore's gotta look pretty good to most Americans. Whoever the Repug candidate is will have the stench of Bush all over him. If Gore runs a smart, tough race he could win. If he runs like he did in 2000, or like Kerry in 2004, Diebold will get him if the Repugs don't.

One of the biggest complaints about Gore in 2000 was that he and Bush were too much alike.

I don't think people will be worried about that now.

And hell, he's ALREADY won a presidential election, so it's not like people won't vote for him.

7. He can have the nomination if he wants it

but it is doubtful he could win the election. Gore is super intelligent, stiff and boring. Kerry was the same. We need new blood with brains and a touch of charisma.
