U.S. electricity demand at record level
http://feeds.bignewsnetwork.com/?sid=485b8650433b7e34

U.S. electricity demand hit an all-time record last week as U.S. utilities delivered 96,314 gigawatt hours of electricity.

For the week ending July 22, a punishing heat wave drove electricity demand more than 1 percent past last year's record of 95,259 gigawatt hours for the week ending July 23, 2005, the Edison Electric Institute's weekly survey of electric demand revealed Wednesday.

Individual utilities and regional grid operators saw their own records shatter as well, and from coast to coast, utilities are scrambling to satisfy the demand for power as searing temperatures continue to blanket much of the country, said EEI President Tom Kuhn.

How can I yell at other people for wasting electricity if I do the same thing? You know come to think of it there may be more ways that I can conserve energy power. I'll start making a list.

5. current solar panels are no answer...

now I read about some new Nano-tech solar that may be in the future, but.....

oh yeah, we're trying to figure out how to end the world, not fix it.

On a serious note... I read about a panel that would only weigh a couple of hundred pounds per square acre! and these nano panels provided 10 times the power of the best stuff NASA has developed. I wish I still had the link. If it was only 1/10th true I would still be excited. I think I found it in Popular Science, but I'm not sure.

Wait til the 90 billion tons of carbon in the Amazon goes up into
the atmosphere and stays there. It will make these days look like a cool picnic.
