Gems in the basement
Occasionally, you will have a look in your basement and find some long forgotten treasure.

Similarly, I am advocating people have a look in the DU basement, as one particular topic forum is called.

Please give this a rec if you think the basement should be explored, like, NOW or in the future.

I take it you do not know which Topic Forum I meant - I'll PM you if you want.

8. You must have looked in my basement then :-)
Edited on Sat Jul-29-06 08:53 PM by BelgianMadCow
Once, my parents put my favourite toy in the basement.
I have to admit at first I was mystified, and then I kinda forgot about it as there were always new toys to play with, and this toy I obviously had seen a lot.
My parents also told me it was a dangerous toy and I should quit whining about it not being there.

But's it's still there and still my favourite toy. And I still don't see the danger of it.
I just had given up on convincing my parents there was still room on the ground floor.

strange it's relegated to the basement since, when it is brought to light, it is the one thing that could bring down the *cabal in a minute.

"Posts about so-called "conspiracy theories" are not permitted on Democratic Underground, except in the September 11 forum."

That's pretty clear-cut.

It also means the Plame discussions going on in GD are not considered a conspiracy theory.

Let me be clear, neither my OP nor this post was about any other conspiracy theory. Just about exploration of the basement.

On edit : I am bringing up the rules so people are aware of them.

Goddammit, the fear of critical thought and the power of knowledge is frustrating.
You know damn well that the basement has plenty of falsehoods in it.

your post #8 isn't as cryptic as you intended it to be, imo.

It's a pretty clear gripe about the rules and admins.

25. I sent email to family, friends and
colleagues about the CSPan program last night. Most of them are in shock after watching. Just a few had an idea of the real fear in the US today.
At the end of the program my better half hugged me and said he remembered my comment on that day that what we were seeing and hearing was not what happened and that one day the truth will out. I read and watched everything available since. The world was duped big time.

29. Exploring basements is always fun.
I met a wonderful family and one showed me their basement. It was full of historical relics, and we were able to learn so much about recent history as we examined them.

However we also discovered a team of pit-bulls there, trained to protect these treasures from sight. They attacked in pairs, and barked ferociously. But, after initially running in terror, we learned that they had no teeth, and were only clockwork facsimiles; mindless robots that were set onto all intruders by some unknown observer.

Initially, the things learned, combined with the snarls of wind-up doggies, may be upsetting. But persist, It is important we all glimpse the hidden underneath of things, and help each other come to terms with it.

40. So close your eyes, stop your ears, Shut your mouth and never dare
Edited on Sun Jul-30-06 11:06 AM by seemslikeadream

Early every year the seeds are growing
Unseen, unheard they lie beneath the ground
Would you know before their leaves are showing
That with weeds all your garden will abound?

If you close your eyes, stop your ears
Shut your mouth then how can you know ?
For seeds you cannot hear may not be there
Seeds you cannot see may never grow

In January you've still got the choice
You can cut the weeds before they start to bud
If you leave them to grow high they'll silence your voice
And in December you may pay with your blood

So close your eyes, stop your ears,
Shut your mouth and take it slow
Let others take the lead and you bring up the rear
And later you can say you didn't know

Every day another vulture takes flight
There's another danger born every morning
In the darkness of your blindness the beast will learn to bite
How can you fight if you can't recognise a warning?

Today you may earn a living wage
Tomorrow you may be on the dole
Though there's millions going hungry you needn't disengage
For it's them, not you, that's fallen in the hole

It's alright for you if you run with the pack
It's alright if you agree with all they do
If fascism is slowly climbing back
It's not here yet so what's it got to do with you?

The weeds are all around us and they're growing
It'll soon be too late for the knife
If you leave them on the wind that around the world is blowing
You may pay for your silence with your life

So close your eyes, stop your ears,
Shut your mouth and never dare
And if it happens here they'll never come for you
Because they'll know you really didn't care

43. Naw... there's probably nothin' valuable down there...
I'm gonna head over to http://bradblog.com instead...

*wink*

Catching a glimpse yet of how it's gonna shake out? Looks like we got us a real-life "wheat from the chaff" scenario. All the well-intentioned "greater good" ops will become increasingly conspicuous by their omission. The ones already clearly recognizable as false fronts, will become more so.

In other words, we're moving in the direction of "recognizable intent", independent of anyone's particular degree of paranoia, (however well- or ill-founded it might be). Soon it will be apparent who's "crashing the gate", and who's in fact "keeping it". ...a welcome development in my view.
