Republicans act like this is a big football game, there has to be a winner, us, and a loser, them, but life is not like that, this is no game.

w says it would be 'absolutely disastrous' if we leave, which it already is. They use the words cut and run and surrender and defeat, when in reality leaving would be the most sensible thing to do, its a disaster, it can't be 'won'.

1. Hell, we did the same in Vietnam.
After 10 years in Vietnam, we basically just left. At a horrendous cost of 55,000 dead, hundreds of thousands of Vietnamese dead. We certainly didn't "win" in Vietnam, that's for sure.

Why should Iraq be any different?

I agree with you. Of course, we never should have been in Iraq in the first place, but that's academic at this point.

2. Exactly..........
and if people hadn't taken to the streets, if people HAD NOT spoken out against our government's failed policy in South East Asia there's a chance that we'd STILL be there wasting young lives.
Not to worry. Bush has created his OWN Viet Nam and THIS TIME we're going to "stay the course", no matter how many lives it costs, no matter how much money it costs. Because we have to WIN, you see? Bush doesn't get it, there ARE no winners in war. But what else could you expect from such a failure of a man? To "cut and run" :eyes: would mean Bush made a mistake and we can't tarnish his imagined image, no matter how many people have to die. People are disposable to Bush as long as HIS image is intact.
