I believe that should is one of the most damaging words in our
language. Every time we use it, we are, in effect, sayng that we
are wrong, or we were wrong, or we're going to be wrong. I would
like to take the word should out of our vocababulary forever and
replace it with the word could. This word gives us a choice, and
we're never wrong.
~ Louise Hay, author and publisher
Ms. Hay went on to suggest that each of us think of five things we
"should" do and write them down, then ask ourselves why we haven't
done them. We may find the reason something wasn't done is valid,
but even if that is not the case, by reframing it as a could
instead of a should, we cast it in a more positive light. Instead
of a chore that should be done, it becomes a possibility that CAN
Be accomplished.
