I have a thread on the ER forum collecting information (like autorank's excellent summary) to use in refuting an editorial in the Nashville Tennessean published yesterday (Friday) calling on Obrador to concede. Since our paper is (unfortunately) a Gannett rag, I'm curious whether other Gannett rags around the country have "coincidentally" published similar editorials in the last few days. Of course, I am a certified "coincidence theorist".

Here's what happened the last they resisted.

This is the risk they take, 1968 government
response to protests
The ghost of the 1968 Tlatelolco massacre before that year’s Summer Olympics haunts the demonstrations today. In a deliberate act of terror, the Mexican army surrounded Tlatelolco Square in Mexico City where 5000 activists were peacefully assembled. The troops opened fire with deadly effectiveness killing three hundred innocent demonstrators who thought Mexico was a democratic country. Premeditation with the intent to harm was acknowledged much later by the man in charge, then minister of the interior (and later president) Luis Echeverría. In addition, there is direct evidence of keen United States interest in the demonstrations and the student movement. US Government representatives in Mexico City gathered intelligence on the students and their plans, passing that along to the Mexican Government.

Get this article out to everyone you know. The democracy movement has already stopped Fox from giving his pack of lies speech to the nation (imagine our guys stopping the State of the Union because of Iraq, 911, and all the other lies) and they're going to have something to say at the "vain" inauguration of Calderon, the sElected president. Obrador is forming a parallel government based on social justice and respect.

My article in "Scoop" is in both English and Spanish (it is reproduced entirely in English at
the Abrader site).

Here's the "Scoop" link. Please, please get it around to your local media and if you have any Spanish language media, papers, ratio, TV, please get it to them to.

We need to know what's happening. Things will get very serious in Mexico very quickly. There is already a peaceful rebellion in Oaxaca. The Fox government is warming up on them with helicopter attacks using tear gas. Mexico City may be next.
