Fascist cops and Judges in Steamboat Springs Colo.?
They have to be to ARREST people for taking food out of a FUCKING DUMPSTER!

Men Who Took Food in Trash Get 6 Months

Published: 9/1/06, 11:05 PM EDT

STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) - Two men who took fruit and vegetables out of a garbage can have been sentenced to six months in jail.

Giles Charle, 24, of Sumersworth, N.H., and David Siller, 27, of Wayne, Pa., said the punishment was harsh and the only choice they had to avoid a felony on their records.

They were on their way to the Rainbow Family's annual gathering when they were arrested in June and charged with felony burglary and misdemeanor theft. Authorities said they took five cucumbers, four or five apricots, two bundles of asparagus spears and a handful of cherries from a garbage can at Sweet Pea Produce.

3. Hasn't the SCOTUS previously ruled that trash is 'fair game'?
Isn't this the reason you have no 'right to privacy' regarding your trash? Isn't that the reason these same police officers can bring evidence retrieved from a trash can before this same judge, and not have it thrown out of court?

Or am I talking out my ass here? IANAL......

4. I think your right
And I think these fucking cops that arrested them need to go to lock up and maybe pay some restitution that might teach them a civic's lesson.

6. Spelling and punctuation question re: "your" and "civic's" (sic)

I think YOU are right?

I think YOUR right?

I think you're right? YES

A CIVIC'S lesson?

A civics lesson? YES

Bonus:

15. Good spelling and punctuation help to prevent serious misunderstandings
and sometimes hard feelings. Try using them.

It's the civilized thig to do.

8. I disagree. Justice is anything BUT a joke for most people.

"Justice" for the little people. Justice for the rich and powerful.

10. i believe acme was trying to say
that people get the justice that they can afford. after all, everything is about money in this country. that is what the republican revolution was all about, wasn't it?
when i was in the military, the saying was, "life is a shit sandwich; the more bread you have, the less shit you have to taste." personally, i hope those heartless republican bastards choke on it.

12. What justice is there for the poor?
Do consider six months for a couple dollars worth of produce justice? A few phone calls from the properly connected people would have certainly gotten those charges dismissed. Such as people who had donated generously to the DA's last campaign for office. This Country has one out of every 168 citizens incarcerated, is that justice? Two million people imprisoned here in the "Land of the Free", justice flourishes here, it obvious to anyone.

It most certainly is a joke, albeit a extremely bitter one...

11. hmmmm, for the next six months....
they will have food to eat, a place to sleep...clean clothing to wear, medical care, and showers available, at the taxpayers expense....so I would say, someone is not thinking clearly...either that or they are taking pity on them, and providing for them like goodly conscientious neighbors would take care of someone in need...

14. I remember back in the late seventies I was living in
Boulder. There was a warning in the community for women to be careful using the hot springs there because the sheriff was a rapist.
