2. What about Ham radio?

It would be a good backup for internet,just in case.C.B. radio is sort of like like the original chatrooms.The 4 watt limit doesn't go very but in Mexico they use linear amplifiers which are illegal here.

3. Ham radio is a highly specialized medium.

You won't find a ham radio rig, even a receiver, in every home. I should know- my father was a ham.

As an emergency broadcast medium, it can't be beat- the mechanism has been in place for many years. But it's still limited to those who have the receivers to pick it up.

As for C.B., that's a different animal altogether, and as you say it's limited to a very short range. Besides, that's a rage that died with the general population years ago. It went back to being mostly a trucker thing, which is cool. They need it. Your average bear bait speed demon doesn't even know it exists.
