Here's a strange email I just got. It wound up in my spam folder so I'm guessing there was probably some mass emailing and it was forwarded to me.

Hello,

My name is D**** and I have a 19 year old son that is a United
States Marine. I belong to a group that is called, Military Moms. As
our children are getting ready to deploy, and some that are getting
ready to come home, we have noticed a steady decline in support,
ie...yellow ribbons decorating offices and homes, American Flags
waving proudly and being displayed on vehicles. As the anniversary
of 9/11 approaches and our children are about to, or have been,
fighting for our freedoms, we are trying to organize an event and
are asking for everyones help in getting the word out.

On September 11, 2006 at exactly 6 pm Pacific Time, 7 pm Mountain, 8
pm Central, and 9 pm Eastern, we are asking Americans to step out on
their front porch and light a candle, for the victims of 9/11 and
for the heros that continue to fight the war on terrorism, giving
their lives to ensure our freedoms. Please help us show them what
their sacrifices mean to us. My son deploys soon and this is the
hardest thing for me to have to experience, but I do it, because I
am proud that he has chosen to serve his country, and I would like
to do something to show him, and the tens of thousands of others,
that they are not alone. All I am asking is for your help in
spreading the word. Please let me know, if you will be able to
assist me in any way.

8. This needs one thing to send it back

When this do nothing Congress shows they support the troops then just maybe the ribbons will do back up. Congress shows its support by cutting Brain Injury research when 1 out of 3 in the war zone may have suffered from a blast. When Congress stops the New PTSD review when one out of four suffer from PTSD in Iraq. Why did Congress cut TRICARE the military families health care by 20 percent. Why did Bush want Combat pay cut. Just a few talking points for a fire back

9. The invasion and occupation of Iraq

does absolutely nothing to preserve my freedom. If anything, it encourages young Iraqis to join the fight against Western interference. What would strengthen our country would be to make us stronger by encouraging our Constitution Rights, promoted jobs in the U.S. instead of overseas, and making sure that jobs stayed here due to our having universal health coverage. That is one figure companies point out when they shift work to other countries, the fact that health coverage is a large portion of their labor costs.

If Sweden, and Britain, and France and Canada can provide health care for their citizens, why can't we? How can we boast about being the richest, most powerful government in the world, if we can't provide for our own. The answer, of course, is that government has become a legal mechanism for shifting wealth from the bottom up, instead of the reverse.

What does it take to see that the freedom Bush claims to want to spread over the earth, if the act of him doing so curtails our freedoms here? He rules by PR, instead of fulfilling his job of carrying out the will of the people, and safeguarding the Constitution. He has ruled as if he were special, an exception to established rules. That is the problem with having a man who has considered himself above everybody else due to his birth, and who has been able to drift through life without fear of facing up to his own mistakes.
