Don't know if you all are following things in Michigan but I can tell you that our state House races are of key importance! I'd like to think our Governor is safe but, alas! I fear for her office.
I've got a superb candidate for the 104th District (Roman Grucz) and he is working tirelessly to get elected. We've raised funds in the various usual ways of course; house parties, mailings and financial calls have been our mainstays.
We are putting on one large event on September 16th. It's at a yacht club on the beautiful bay, gourmet snacks and an open bar. Sent out nearly 2000 invites, should be a great bash.
What we need are some sponsors. There are $100, $250 and $500 sponsorships and the goal is to have sponsorships cover our expenses and then some. Of course anyone who wants to donate any amount to the campaign, we're grateful no matter what the amount.
All that can be done to keep expenses down is being done. Because our candidate has a boat slip here we got the "club house" for only $50.00. Also, my brother (the chef) just catered an event for me for our US House candidate and is willing to do this one for free. Cool huh? I sent out 1942 postcard invitations yesterday. I did the layout work and took it in camera ready. Had them print me 500 sheets of cardstock, cut them twice and Voila! I got 2000 postcards for $100. Sadly I had to fork over $464 for postage.
Anyhow, you all get the picture. Trying to turn this gig into the needed pot of gold to get a good progressive Dem elected in MI. This guy has a promising political future and a win on this race would hasten the now-in-progress but moving ever-so-slowly turning of the tide here from red to blue. I figure two terms in the state House and then it's on to bigger and better things.
Several of you have offered to help candidates I work with before. If you find yourself in a position to do so, please consider supporting this effort. I'm workin' it full time for this race and would really appreciate any help we can get from our on-line friends from afar.
