Hitler's Cross, the restaurant in Navi Mumbai that sparked protests by Jewish groups over its name, will be renamed Cross Cafe, its owners said.

"We are putting up the board bearing the new name tomorrow," said Punit Sabhlok, managing director of the restaurant.

"We hope the new name will be a trouble-free one. We have deleted Hitler's name and the swastika symbol will be replaced with multi-coloured rings," he added.

Two other options, Fort Knox and Exotic Goblet, were considered by the owners before they decided on the new name, Sabhlok said.

"After considering them, we decided to keep it simple and call it Cross Cafe," he said.

Since it is opening on August 18 at Kharghar in Navi Mumbai, the eatery had attracted the ire of a large section of people, including Jewish groups and the consuls general of Israel and Germany, who criticised the management for
glorifying Nazi dictator Adolf Hitler. (PTI)

Hitler's Cross', which opened last week, serves up a wide range of continental fare and a big helping of controversy, thanks to a name the owners say they chose to stand out among hundreds of Mumbai eateries.

Give me strength. It's just a fuckin' sideshow to them, and they knew from the outset they wanted something that would resonate. Now they hope the new name will be trouble-free. (too late, the bozos wanted to toy around with a notorious piece of pig dung and expect to get away with it???!)

3. Like the 2nd link said, they wanted a memorable name.

In return, they got called "fuckin' pigs" by any number of people and rightfully so.

All for a name - how much lower can a person get? If they can be called people; anyone who uses the name of an infamous person (especially of Hitler's calibre) for personal gain is just as vile as far as I'm concerned.

Maybe they thought that, because they're in India and because their economy is on the up'n'up, they could get away with it. Oops. America and Israel haven't been obliterated yet. Maybe afterwards.

Or maybe they were trying to be coy and telling the terrorist organizations that they shouldn't be blown up because they hate Israel too? :crazy:

I don't even want to think about those snotty jerks. What they did get in response was almost underwhelming too.
