"moderate" Suans Collins helped call for IRS invastigation of NAACP

A group of Senators in partisan fashion called for an IRS investigation of the NAACPbecause in July 2004 NAACP chairman Julian Bond made an speech critical of the Bush administration.


This Nixonian use of the IRS looks appalling. This complaint did not come from regular citizens because of any genuine concern for financial misdeeds but rather from partisan Republican Senators who wanted to punish Julian Bond for speaking out against the Chimp Nazi in the white house aka Caligula on the potomac, aka the A$$hole from El Paso, aka Marcos from the Pecos, aka SloboGeorge MiloseBush.


I read somewhere on DU that someone wrote that The chimp uses a fake Texas drawl, because his Brother Jeb never talks like that and they both grew up in later years in Texas. Actually both of them appear Connecticut Yankees in Jefferson Davis' Court. Anyway, if Jeb talked with a Texas drawl then It would appear to me that both of them developed a natural Texas accent. But since Jeb appears to talk without even the smallest Southern drawl, that the chimp has faked this and used it to pander to unreconstructed southern confederate men, in order to get their votes in 200 and 2004.

The SOB doesn't sound like any Texan I know, but then again I have only lived here since 1963, so my ear may not be as finely attuned as yours :) We have a lot of folks that are quick to tell us all about what is wrong with us, how damned stupid we are, (Granted it sure has to appear we are, but we have Ivins, Hightower, Rather, all our millions of folks the law of averages, you know...), etc. I can only speculate that there is something in the water that causes otherwise sane people, who would give you the shirt of their backs, they are nice people, to adopt these mean spirited nasty politics.

Susan Collins is a stupid cow, and is by no means a moderate. But I'll betcha' bucks she'll be re-elected. Politics is not at the top of the minds of most people up here, and it's a name everyone knows.

7. While I don't like this at all,

I seem to remember the repukes screaming about the same thing when the Big Dog was in office. I think it's completely inappropriate to "use" the IRS to investigate political enemies, but given the complex tax code, I'll bet the IRS could find something when investigating almost any organization.

If I recall correctly, during the 90's the NRA, Heritage Foundation, Citizens Against Government Waste, the Concerned Women for American and some chapters of the Christian Coalition (I don't remember where) were all investigated by the IRS, as well as several consecrative publications like the National Review, and several of the people who attacked the Clintons personally (Gennifer Flowers, Elizabeth Gracen, Paula Jones, Juanita Broaddrick, and that travel office guy Billy Dale). That's not to say that those people and groups didn't do anything wrong, I just don't remember the IRS turning up very much in their investigation of any of them.
