CBC to air THREE new 9/11 documentaries this week

In Canada, CBC is marking the occasion with three new films. The most haunting: The Falling Man (CBC, Sept. 6, 10 p.m.), a documentary focusing on the infamous photograph of a man who apparently chose to jump to his death rather than stay in the burning tower. The photo still startles: The man is frozen mid-air, perfectly juxtaposed against the towers about to crumble. The program talks to newspaper editors who ran the picture and those who didn't, and also endeavours to track down the falling man's family. It is an immensely sad film.

Running the same night, The Secret History of 9/11 (CBC, Sept. 10 at 7 p.m.) recounts the history of the intelligence war between Osama bin Laden and his terrorist ilk and the White House, which was apparently going on for decades before 9/11. Directed by Gemini-winner Terence McKenna, the film is split between profiles of captured terrorist Khalid Sheikh Mohammed -- the most senior al-Qaeda member ever captured -- and former U.S. counterterrorism chief Richard Clarke, who warned of potential attacks way back in the Clinton administration.

CBC will also air the new documentary 9/11: Toxic Legacy (CBC, Sept. 10 at 9 p.m.), which looks at the long-range environmental impact of the terrorist attacks.

2. and here in muriKa we have "TERRA TERRA TERRA!!!"
<snip>

Some 9/11 programs look at the current state of preparedness to prevent and/or cope with a similar attack. Newly arrived CBS Evening News anchor Katie Couric will host her first network news special: Five Years Later: How Safe Are We? (CBS, Sept. 6), which seems certain to maintain the fear level among U.S. citizens.

4. CBC does excellent documentaries and Terence McKenna, doing
the second documentary "The Secret History of 9/11", never pulls his punches, he goes for the full facts, I love his work.

When I see what is available to Canadians as opposed to the American public, I feel both very lucky to be here in Canada and very sad for those in the US who cannot see these honest documentaries.

10. The CBC should run as a counterbalance
here all over the states. It should be in everyone's cable lineup.
