A Pentagon statement released on Friday said that the situation in Iraq could not yet be defined as a civil war; however, the circumstances leading to a civil war were in place.

And, unfortunately for them, this isn't one of those "Well, it only gets a a Civil War label when we SAY SO" scenarios.

The conditions exist because the reality exists. They need to get used to it, and start planning from that sad reality. Shit, I feel sad for the civil servants and the uniforms in the trenches there trying to do that thankless task. It's got to be as bad as it gets.
