House OR Senate?

If we could only retake 1, which one would you choose?

But then again, the Senate has fewer members, and gets more media visibility.

OTOH, if we have the HOUSE, we've got some visibility for future Democratic candidates for SENATOR in 08....

But I'll stick with HOUSE, and hope for....BOTH.

11. Silly waste of time

Why fight something you can't win when you can do so much more damage with sworn testimony about various uglinesses?

Impeachment is sheer folly at this point. Why take down a lame duck nobody when you can take down an entire party and the creeping monarchism of the the truly ugly corporatists by calling them to account in the bright light of day?

The House of Representatives is important for its ability to control the legislative agenda and indict. Revenge is best had by clipping their wings for future actions and bringing legal actions against the thugs who've subverted the system for the sins of the past.

Impeachment in this situation is stupid.

12. Everyone's mileage varies on this matter.

Right now, you call it a waste of time.

But supposing the investigatory powers of the House reveal beyond a question of any doubt that both the President AND Vice President, as well as the Cabinet, were complicit in serious high crimes and misdemeanors that had potential to undermine our Constitution and destroy our world standing?

Would you still call it a silly waste of time in that event?

I don't care if he has two days left on his term. Let the wheel of justice spin.

7. If only one . . . the House . . .

Yes, because of impeachment -- although I'm not sure we want to spend the capital that would require, but because we're going to make at least gains in the Senate, putting 60 vote clotures (and the "nuclear option") mostly out of reach.

With regard to court appointments, a few seats is all we need to 1) put the kaibosh on the worst of the worst and 2) successfully (and accurately) portray the 'Licans as fanatics uninterested in the People's business.

two words John Conyers - not necessarily impeachment - but investigation of any kind - or shall we say oversight would be lovely.

But I'm one of those terribly worried folks who don't think we'll get either because of these freaking machines - but I HOPE TO GOD I'M WRONG....

but I'll settle for the House. There are more reasonable people in the Senate, the process there is more deliberate.

It is really pretty simple, the House is where all appropriations bills start, the power of the purse is vital right now. I realize that both the House and Senate must pass the Appropriations bills but to have the first cut at shaping the debate is very important. Additionally and in some ways more importantly.

Who would you rather have investigating the Administration, Senator Leiberman (I-Leiberman Party) as Chairman of the Senate Homeland and GOVERNMENT Committee ( the Committee that Senator Fred Thompson used to investigate the Clinton Administration to near death) and may I add the Committee that Sen Leiberman was the chair of when Sen Jeffords changed parties and refused to use te investigative powers of the Committee or Congressman Waxman who is Bright and has the balls to take the fight to the Administration and get to the bottom of all the lies. The choice is a simple one if we can have only one, the HOUSE is the one.

If you look at the list of who will Chair the House and Senate Committees, I think the Senate line up is pretty good but the House line up is a bit harder hitting.
