Haha gas stations reminding voters of lower prices before GOP congressman
Edited on Tue Sep-05-06 06:27 AM by liberaldemocrat7
got elected.

Some gas stations around the country have signs stating they have lowered their prices to remind people that prices appeared lower before the current GOP congressman in their district got elected.

I saw this mentioned on cspan.

Republicans have complained about this accusing gas station owners bribing people to vote.

Nonsense. This publicity will remind voters that the GOP has enabled business abuse for too long and enabled do little government.

Had enough of $3 gas? Thank George W bush and the REPUBLIKLAN party for doing nothing about gas prices.

2. If the repubs keep control of congress the prices will go back up
Edited on Tue Sep-05-06 06:28 AM by Hubert Flottz
and go even higher. Don't forget, that the word was about three months ago, that gas prices were headed for $4.00 a gallon and Bush and The GOP congress just grinned about that! Now that the oil companies sense GOP defeat in November in earnest, they are trying to buy the election for the GOP, with these sudden unexpected falling prices. The GOP has done nothing but lie and cover up the true state of the economy since 2000 and this is just another little political trick.

EDIT...PETRO-Fascism is alive and well in every corner of GOPerland...If you want heat this winter that you can afford...you'd better help the democrats take congress back!

3. All's fair in love and war
And in politics, even more is allowed. P.S. The politicians are the one that set the rules for campaigning.

4. Gas stations do not control the price of gasoline, big oil oligopoly does
....I'm glad to see the station operators doing their part to get the word out

Definition of oligopoly:

A market dominated by a small number of participants who are able to collectively exert control over supply and market prices.

Exxon Mobil Corp., Conoco Phillips Co, Shell Oil Co. and BP America Inc. are the companies who are in Dick Cheney's back pocket

Oil CEOs Profiting At Our Expense
September 4, 2006

CHUCK COLLINS As you fill your tank for Labor Day weekend, you could say that oil industry CEOs are a pain in your pump.

Only 18 months ago, you could buy gas for less than $1.75 a gallon. Now the price hovers around $3. Americans will shell out $200 billion more on gasoline this year than in 2004.

The CEOs of our country's 15 biggest oil companies are surfing the wave of inflated oil prices all the way to the bank.

A new study by United for a Fair Economy and the Institute for Policy Studies (which I co-authored), reveals that in 2005, the Big Oil 15 were paid an average salary of $32.7 million, three times the already excessive pay of CEOs in comparably sized businesses.

Between 2004 and 2005, Big Oil barons got a 50 percent raise.

6. Very good Mr. Coauthor. I say boycott Exxon/Mobil stations.
Edited on Tue Sep-05-06 06:51 AM by liberaldemocrat7
and force the gas station owners to get the parent company to lower the price AFTER the election.

Just like UAW workers boycott only one of the auto companies and then the other companies fall in line. We should boycott the biggest company gas stations, no gas, no oil, no car repairs, no beer, no soda, no food.

Let the Exxon/Mobil gas station owners experience what regular citizens do. It won't hurt the oil companies first but it will hurt the people selling gas, oil, etc.

5. Here's a gas price chart for 1998-2006

In case any GOPropagandist tries to sell you the "prices are going down because the summer driving months are ending" line.

7. Good for the gas stations. Gas prices go high & the station owners &
especially their low paid employee's are the ones that end up taking the brunt of consumers wrath even while they have to suffer from the same high costs nibbling into their (MUCH lower the the oil CEO's) incomes.

One of things that still amazes me to no end is the absolute stupidity/naivete of those who voted for BushCo thinking they'd help with gas/oil prices. Why on earth would anyone with half of a brain think for even one nano second that putting OIL men into power would do anything but increase profits for those oil companies that own their souls.

8. Choices
I choose to patronize the stations which pump for me(much gratitude) which also has turned out to be the lowest price per gallon in my area.

What continues to surprise me is the people who favor pumping the gas themselves for 5 to 7 cents more per gallon and these stations turn out to be Exxon Mobile here in my area.
