UK psychologist: "George Bush walks like a body builder"

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/health/5316916.stm

Why politicians cannot tell fibs

<snip>

In some cases, the politician may be aware of the effect of the movement itself.

For example, Bill Clinton tended to bite his lip when he wanted to appear emotional, Dr Collett said.

Clinton bit his lip 15 times in two minutes during his apology to the American nation over his affair with Monica Lewinsky.

Others instances may be less contrived, but occur when the person wants to appear powerful or friendly.

George Bush walks like a body builder, hanging his palms to the rear as though laden down by huge muscle, to infer that he's larger than he actually is, says Dr Collett.

Mr Blair raises his eyebrows when he wants to appear non-threatening, a submissive gesture.

she said - he walks like he's done something in his pants (looking at the clip of him walking after Scooter Libby was indicted, he actually may have?)

8. A bodybuilder without muscles, that would have to be
He's trained himself/been trained to walk that way to give people the false impression that he's muscular. I often see him referred to as muscular and strong and so on, so I guess the charade works.

The charade would collapse if a photo of him without a shirt ever slipped out.

10. The guy is pretty much right, * tries to appear more powerful/intimidating
Clinton did have certain gestures when he was trying to appear emotional. What he's not quite right about, though, IMO, is that body language can't be trained and 'faked'. Most of it can, and * is more or less like a marionette anyway. If his handlers know body language, I'm sure they do, they'll tell him what to do and he'll do it.

13. I think they told him to sort of march like a soldier. I can still see
him coming off the helicopter at the WH after 9-11. He looked so terrified---he was all shrunken up inside his suit which looked 3 sizes too big, with its big empty shoulder pads hanging off him, and he was trying to do that little tin soldier march to look brave, but he was in shambles. Whenever he comes off a helicopter he does that tin soldier march. Dunno where he learned it, but it looks like they trained him to do that.
