14. It's about time they surround Wes Clark, the ONLY credible
voice on National Security the Dems have. Sorry Kerry fans but a lot of people don't consider experience from 35 years ago as valid.

22. Well, I agree about Clark
But not necessarily about Kerry. Many prior-service folks remain forver tapped into the military culture - myself included. I keep up with the base closings, the troop deployments, etc. I imagine Kerry does the same. Also, he has access to much information about the military including troop levels, equipment, etc.

If you think that Kerry is not credible then I guess you think that Max Cleland isn't either? Only recent military folk need speak out? That is just silly and a waste of the Dems who have served in the military.

They ALL need to speak out and back up Gen. Clark. All of them but especially the veterans.

41. Dems not covered
At five minutes after noon, Dems started press conference. C-Span previously announced its coverage at noon and followed through, airing it. CNN also announced their coverage at noon, but did NOT show it when it started. Instead, CNN covered the White House "Report." Also "breaking news", new transportation secretary, and McClellan resigning. MSNBC nor Faux covered the dems, either, when it first started. I got so angry, I walked away from TV, so I don't know if they picked up anything.

Will SOMEONE please tell the Dems to pick a better venue that inspires coverage the next time they have something important to say? Oh, and quit with the boring opening.

I'm so pissed. Oh, and CNN is advertising all over the place the idiot's speech coming up.

this is on the choulder of media. and repugs inevitably put things out when they know dems are going in front of press, only to get on and dems not on.

57. Blame?
I blame the media. I'm saying the dems have to beat the media and the republican stronghold it has on the media. In order to win, the Dems have to inspire the media to cover them. It's an uphill battle, I know, but starting off with a bad venue and bad opening doesn't help the dems. It's constructive criticism, not blame. No one -- NO ONE wants the Dems' message to get to the public more than me.

59. thank you. i have been watching this develop for years
generally i can find solutions in all things. this one has had me stymied. the media. i have heard the top dogs say things llike, we dont have dems on, they are not loud and aggressive enough (not entertaining), or dems are easy to bash, no repercussion like repugs.... or other things. they admit to it and still it is not a problem. i have watched our dems take on media and still media continue. i dont know. it is frustrating for me.

60. We have to beat them at their own game
You're so right -- it is frustrating. I believe if we're going to win, we need to think like them. I've been watching closely how the repubs are getting their message out, and it seems to include being showy, short, small words -- nothing of substance, obviously. I think the Dems also need to be showy, short BUT with substance. They have plenty of substance, but most times it takes too long for them to say it.

The Dems aren't loud and aggressive enough, nor entertaining, but imagine if they were all those things but had a message, not rhetoric -- we'd have no problems. I think the repubs just over and over play on that weakness. Earlier this morning CNN reported an announcement from the White House was going to be made later in the day. 5 minutes after noon when the speech started, Rove (I assume) called CNN and reported the new transportation secretary. CNN then reported "breaking news." Maybe I'm wrong, but I think if the Dems were enticing enough, good venue with a crowd of people for their speech, showy, I believe CNN and the rest would have covered it live and then had a crawl about the "breaking news." It's not fair, I know, but we have to join the game and win the way it is -- not the way it should be.
