23. If you'll settle for a quick synopsis: something evil happened while I was

on vacation. I love Mike Malloy, intelligent, controversial and the best nighttime host for AAR. He was the first choice of the original management who started AAR, Uh oh so that makes me their second choice, but that's okay. She took a smack at the current manger of AAR, too. She mentioned that while Mike is always her first choice for a fill-in that she once again ran this by her producer who agreed that it should again be Mike. She stated that her producer has been in radio since he was 15 yrs. old and that she has been since she was 19 and we know who and what is good and how to sell it. (I was giggling over this). She was pissed that he was fired on her watch after the approval for him to fill-in.

As an AAR Premium subscriber, I would like to state how disappointed I am with the unexpected firing of Mike Malloy. Not only am I a Premium subscriber so that I can access all of AAR podcasts, but I renewed my XM radio subscription just to be able to listen to Mike Malloy live.

At the request of the goddess of radio, Randi, I'm keeping my comments cool. I want Mike back because:

Mike pulls no punches. This is appreciated by those who are on the Democratic wing of the Democratic Party after seeing the party move to the right and being so frustrated that nobody speaks for the base.

Mike covers topics that other don't touch. That is, 9/11 and reminding everyone that the Palestinians have a point of view too.

Mike is blunt and it is appreciated. It is a good counterpoint to the press who sanitizes what this president and his administration do. When the administration makes comparisons to those who criticize the war and those who placated the Nazi movement, how can one with a beating heart not react so strongly? Mike is definitely a passionate person. Good for him. We need more people on the left and in this country to wake up before it is too late. Mike is excellent at motivating.

Mike's political commentary is right on. I've only become politically aware since the stealing of the 2000 election. I don't know all the background like Mike does. I continue to learn from him about the politics of my country when I was unaware.

Mike should return to AAR because he is an excellent broadcaster. Your two strongest broadcasters in my opinion are Mike and Randi.

Mike should return because many on the blogs are upset. Some will never listen to AAR without Mike. Some won't renew the Premium status or in my case, not renew the entire lineup, just the few programs that I will listen to (Randi, Sedar, Maddow). The weekend shows are free. So, for this reason, you are cutting your own revenue stream.

Finally, Mike will be rehired somewhere. The blogs are working to have him go to satellite, potentially on Sirius Left, where a revamped lineup will compete with AAR.
