Sorry - I know that this is a bit after the fact, but I took some time to think things over...and this is the first time I've been on my laptop since my drive home. The major topic on the Ed Schultz show was his endless braying at the Dems for going after Rumsfeld NOW. While admitting that I am sorely disappointed at the Dems in so many ways for letting the misadministration and its various dismemebers off of the hook countless times, I think that Ed's response was symptomatic of something that is truly, horribly wrong.
Ed is treating this as if it is a novella - a PR campaign and nothing more. He is looking at it as if this is a ploy to get some people off of the fence and supporting big changes in the upcoming election. (I can't count the number of times he hammered this home - of saying that those who listen to talk radio are the informed, the news junkies - and the vast, vast majority of Americans don't pay attention and couldn't care less. I don't think it is nearly as simple as that, and certainly don't count the Limpballs listeners and their ilk as well informed!).
Well, the point I want to make is that Rumsfeld has to go now - ASAP - because our young are dying over there. And that this is a completely, utterly failed misadministration, with utterly failed approaches to everything. Each and every day that they are in power is a continuation, a compounding of the disaster. The deaths in Iraq are not a PR ploy - they are a reality. A main architect of the war and our policy is the arrogant Rumsfeld...and he must go! Sure the Dems are days late and dollars short at getting on board with this, letting the playing of politics getting in the way of the good of the country. But if the time to do this is now, go for it....it doesn't matter if it is going to get people voting for the Dems in the election - it is the right thing to do.
What really frustrates me the most of all of this is that we have a PR presidency. It is probably only a PR culture, with crap TV shows and lots of time spent on things that don't matter. Geesh, the nightly news, and even the Schultz and other shows, seem to be no more than 30-40% content and the rest advertisements of snake oil products for the gullible public. As a country we appear to have lost our collective intellect and curiosity (and I blame our idiot, ignorant so called president for setting the cultural direction on this topic).
THE BEST WAY TO PREDICT WHAT WILL HAPPEN IS LOOKING AT WHAT HAS HAPPENED. THOSE CURRENTLY IN POWER ARE UTTER FAILURES - AND WILL BE NOTHING BUT. THEY DO NOT DESERVE ANY MORE CHANCES. IT IS NOT ABOUT PR - IT IS ABOUT LIFE AND DEATH.
Man, I am so, so frustrated and fed up. Well, I've said my piece for this evening.
