Raw Story: Pakistan Promised not to arrest Bin Laden
Press secretary to the president of Pakistan tells ABC Osama bin Laden will not be captured if he agrees to live 'peaceful life'

Ron Brynaert
Published: Tuesday September 5, 2006

Major General Shaukat Sultan Khan, press secretary to the president of Pakistan, tells ABC News that -- if found -- Osama bin Laden won't be arrested, as long as he promises to behave like a "peaceful citizen."

"If he is in Pakistan, bin Laden 'would not be taken into custody,' Major General Shaukat Sultan Khan told ABC News in a telephone interview, 'as long as one is being like a peaceful citizen," report Brian Ross and Gretchen Peters at ABC's blog, The Blotter.

"No, as long as one is being like a peaceful citizen, one would not be taken into custody," said Khan. "One has to stay like a peaceful citizen and not allowed to participate in any kind of terrorist activity."

"The surprising announcement comes as Pakistani army officials announced they were pulling their troops out of the North Waziristan region as part of a 'peace deal' with the Taliban," reports ABC.

Pakistan will also be returning many Taliban prisoners and seized weapons.

1. Well, he's pretty peaceful up to this point, isn't he? Financing 19

Saudi hijackers to fly commercial jets into skycrapers... murdering almost 4,000 people in about 25 minutes... that's pretty peaceful, isn't it?

I'm assuming that Condoleezza Rice knows about this arrangement. Traditionally, the Secretary of State is involved in these matters with, you know, other countries & stuff.

I'm not ruling out the chance that Raw Story is wrong on this, but if they're right, the Bush administration cannot exactly claim to be on a foreign policy roll.

Yoo-hoo, Democrats... wanna buy an issue?

2. Sounds good, as more fuel for the Bush bonfire,
but I'll wait for more confirmation if it's coming.

If true, this would be a huge embarrassment to BushCo and their international "coalition," their sham war-on-terra.

4. Hi, Drum. You're absolutely right. Many of us have just been waiting
for the tipping point on this administration, and the public's perception that the little fool doesn't know what he's doing.

I doubt if even Republicans would tolerate letting bin Laden go unpursued.

3. It was Pakistan who also helped finance ...
the 911 attacks. To the tune of $100,000.00!

Why is this surprising to anyone? They never intended to catch Bin Laden! He's an asset! You're scared aren't ya?

5. Yep. I was REALLY REALLY scared til Tom Ridge told me to put
duct tape all around my house.

Then I knew I was safe.

6. Didn't you get the memo?
Only Republicans are entitled to politicize the WOT. Any Democrat caught with his or her hand in that cookie jar will have it serially slapped by:

Bill O'Reilly
Rush Limbaugh
Sean Hannity
Chris Matthews
Ann Coulter
Michelle Malkin
Glenn Beck
Michael Savage
Melanie Morgan
And 10 John/Jane Does, to be named

8. Ah, there they are. The 2006 nominees for the Joseph McCarthy Award.
How to pick just one winner?!
