couple of comments on bush*'s speech 9/5/06

BUSH: In it, bin Laden says that Al Qaida intends to launch, in his words, a media campaign to create a wedge between the American people and their government.

This media campaign, bin Laden says, will send the American people a number of messages, including that their government will bring them more losses in finances and casualties.

And he goes on to say that they are being sacrificed to serve the big investors, especially the Jews.

Bin Laden says that, by delivering these messages, Al Qaida aims at creating pressure from the American people on the American government to stop their campaign against Afghanistan.

this implies that whoever opposes bush is falling for bin-laden propaganda. as far as stopping the campaign in Afghanistan - it's pretty much over thanks to the bushies pulling out special forces and diverting resources to Iraq.

The world ignored Hitler's words, and paid a terrible price.

His Nazi regime killed millions in the gas chambers and set the world aflame in war before it was finally defeated at a terrible cost in lives.

continuation of a theme - rummy's comments set the stage, bush is continuing with it. terrorists will be now linked with Hitler/Nazies in all GOPer speeches. We now have 2 boogey-men morphed together.

Previously, rummy had also expressed concern regarding terrorists ability to "control the news media"

so here's the theme - you can't believe the new media because the terrorists 'control' it, and if you do believe it then you must be befuddled, an appeaser or a nazi-supporter.

and this has me concerned there will be something bigger coming. bush wouldn't be pulling bin-laden unless there's more to come

I share your concern about something bigger coming. What worries me more is they know it and are purposely going over the top now to annoy people, knowing that when it does happen the correction in the attitudes of many Americans will be immense in their favor. "How could we have doubted you?" type of thing, clinging fear.

I've decided that if such a thing happens, that's when hubby and I will be leaving. Because what follows will invoke memories of Hitler's consolidation of power.

the dems have slowly been gaining some ground with their plans for security, WOT, and Iraq

this has been the repubs "centerpiece", and in this (s)election it's the only issue they can still talk about

the Terror propaganda by terrorists - we'll be hearing more about this as repubs condescendingly pat the DEMs on the head and tell them they have been duped by terrorists and this implies the Dems are naive/stupid and do we want naive/stupid people in charge?

I find it ironic the rummy/bush are now dragging out Nazis/hitler considering how upset they were about the entry into the move-on ad contest which compared bush to hitler..

that being said - if naive/stupid doesn't work - then all who oppose bush are nazi sympathizers or worse..

working both together either naive/stupid or "appeasers/sympathizers" paints a picture of someone who is not to be trusted. Credibility is on the line

You are right.
What I meant with my simplified post: by the coordinated use of their current talking points, they are indirectly trying to frame the public picture of the political opponent. That is always done, but we are reaching a new low here.
We all know that these expressions, starting with islamic fascism and later (nazi) appeasers, were no mistake.

8. Who are the real terrorists and Nazis? How many countries

have al Qaeda invaded and taken over? How many countries has the USA invaded and taken over? Who runs the US media? Certainly not al Qaeda. It's all US gov't propaganda. Yes, we are seeing Hitler all over again - but it's * and his war criminals, not al Qaeda. And the US has been the biggest exporters of terrorists the last 30 years. So I would say, in a way, the terrorists have taken over the US media.

if anything this (s)election season is the culmination of the past 5 years of alerts/warnings/threats/scares

bush invoked bin-laden/hitler/nazis/terrorists while not offering anything more than the same failed "stay-the-course" pile of crap.

the message bush is sending is "FEAR", the same message bin-laden (et al) are sending.

this is no longer a WAR ON TERROR -- it's now the WAR OF TERROR.

bin-laden uses bombs to create terror, bush uses bin-laden to create terror.
