Buy Disney stock - control the company!
We really should be doing this for companies that own each of the MSM networks.
If we want to change their policy, an alternative to doing it from without, is to do it from within. If we buy stock in Disney, Time Warner, GE, and Viacom (or whatever the fuck owns CBS since the company split its stock)then we can influence company policy as stock-holders. Afterall, don't stock-holders ultimately dictate company policy with the need for profits?

Former Senator Jesse Helms (and all-around bigoted asshole) had a similar idea in 1985, when he advocated buying enough CBS stock so conservatives could "become Dan Rather's boss" and ultimately change CBS's news policy.

If we want to stop ABC from putting out another hit-piece on the Clenis, we'll do this. If we want to get rid of light-weights like Couric, then we'll do this. And if we want to get rid of every Bush-kissing MSM pundit, from Sean Hannity to Norah O'Donnell, then we'll do this.

1. William Pierce of the racist National Alliance did that with AT&T
After one of his devotees was killed in a standoff with the FBI, Pierce decided to take the National Alliance within the system. He bought up so much stock that he forced a stockholders' vote on some sort of affirmative action issue.

2. Excellent idea...!!! but...
isn't there something about "common" stock vs. "preferred" stock? ..with "common" stock being what we the people get to buy... share the profit w/ no say in corporate direction? ...i don't know, just asking...

3. Got a spare $52bn hanging around?
Edited on Wed Sep-06-06 09:18 PM by Taxloss
OK, let's say $26bn, for 51%. A mere $290,000 for each of the 90,000 DUers.

We may need a funding drive.

5. Steve Jobs already owns 7% of Disney.
He's the biggest single shareholder.

7. Maybe worth its own thread?
Putting pressure on Jobs would do more than simply buying stock, which would take much too long - it would only be useful by the next AGM.
