"14 high value prisoners....who have committed some of the worst crimes
the world has ever seen." John Roberts question to a security expert on AC360 last night. How's that for hyperbole? Of all the sackings of cities, mayhem, holocausts, death camps, genocides, and asundry visitations of absolute power upon the citizenry by various dictators and despots throughout history, these are the 14 worst criminals the world has ever seen?

2. LOL! I had a similar reaction when I first heard him say
that. Of all the raging wreakers of mayhem throughout history, this bunch is the "Gang who couldnt' shoot straight" and the only reason they are in captivity now is because *'s government dumblucked its way to their captures and disregarded the law to get them.

3. Perspective is a pre-9/11 value.
"The world changed on September 11."

The notion that 9/11 is a crime unique and exceptional in all human history
is the cornerstone of the "War on Terror" and a justification for ripping up
the rule of law. 9/11 was a crime against humanity, but the Bushies are
determined to promote a lawlessness that enables even bigger crimes.

4. We all knew things like this was coming and right up to Nov.
They will do anything to win and to get every thing they can from Congress and mostly more power.

5. have they all been convicted of a crime yet?
I can not help but think of the Harper's article I read last month about the poor guy picked up in Afghanistan and tortured at GITMO for two years. AND HE WAS LET GO BECAUSE HE WAS INNOCENT!!!

:grr:

6. Absolutely.

There is no presumed innocent in this policy. That a person can be punished in the form of torture before being charged with any crime or given due process is an abomination and a subversion of democracy and justice.

7. Hope he has a good lawyer... he probably represents but a
tiny percentage of people who have been abused by shrubco for nuthin. Remember that the Red Cross and others stated that upwards of 90% of the people locked up in Abu Ghraib weren't supposed to be there.
