bush's great grandfather GHW was a pugilist ... bush learned the art
of verbal pugilism from family roots. that is why when he throws a verbal punch at democrats who try to hit back, they can never hit him. bush knows how to evade a punch. he knows how to throw and then cut and run.

7. not an oscar wilde but a CANTINFLAS who makes use of CANTINFLISMO, i.e.
AS CANTINFLAS WOULD SAY:

"Ah! but let me make one thing clear, I have moments of lucidity, and I speak very clearly. And now I will speak with clarity...Friends! There are moments in my life that are really momentary...And it's not because one says it, but we must see it! What do we see? that's what we must see...because, what a coincidence, friends, that supposing that in the case—let's not say what it could be—but we must think about it and understand the psychology of life to make an analogy of the synthesis of humanity. Right? Well, that's the point!<9>"

BUSH SPEAKS IN WORD SALADS WHICH SAY NOTHING AND MEAN NOTHING but it enables him to remain standing; the facts seem to say...isn't EVADING PUNCHES one of the arts of pugilism?

2. Shrub couldn't pugil his way
Edited on Thu Sep-07-06 06:56 AM by hobbit709
out of a wet paper bag-either physically or verbally. He acts like he's been on the receiving end-a major case of pugilistic dementia.

5. the way i think of pugilism and bush is that he knows how to evade a punch
and remain standing... (and yes, he doesn't evade with straight talk, logic, or reason), he hides behind Jim Lehrer's skirts as he did in the 2000 debate with Al Gore which was moderated by Jim Lehrer who, after Bush whined that Gore had not right to judge his heart, Lehrer cut the debate off and Bush remained standing while Gore smelled like a rotten potatoe.

Or, he hides behind the emotional strings of 9/11; or the emotional strings of fear, which he knows how to pull, and so many other examples of Bush knowing how to sock it to the people. I do think he is able to pugil his way into a police state and us out of our democracy.

3. GHW was a Nazi fundraiser along with his brother-in-law, Prescott Bush
Here's the 1942 seizure order under the Trading With The Enemy Act for Union Bank Corp., the Nazi-controlled bank they ran in NY. Both George Herbert Walker and Prescott Bush were on the Board of Directors - Prescott had an ownership interest, as the stockholder list, below, shows:

4. GEORGE HERBERT WALKER was PRESCOTT BUSH's father-in-law.
Prescott Bush married DOROTHY WALKER, George Herbert Walker's daughter. They had a son named
GEORGE HERBERT WALKER BUSH after Dorothy's POP, hence, POPPY FOR GHWBUSH.

And, George Herbert Walker was a

" Missouri financier

It was 1903, and George Herbert Walker was well on his way toward building a fortune and an extended family that would spawn a senator, two governors, and two presidents. A tough bear of a man, a Missouri heavyweight boxing champion who frequently fought and sometimes pummeled his own sons, who liked his Scotch and his racehorses, Walker lived a gilded life in the grandest style."

6. If you really believe that, then why does the great pugilislator himself
only appear before screened and selected crowds? Have you seen the clip of him stammering and blanking out when a reporter at one of his very few press conferences asked him if he could think of any mistakes he might have made? I'm not getting what you're getting at, unless it is just some humor or sarcasm I'm missing.

8. neither humor nor sarcasm. BUSH is the great EVADER.
and isn't EVADING A PUNCH part of the art of pugilism? Hitting your opponent but not getting hit by him? WHY IN THE HEAVENS BLAZES IS BUSH STILL STANDING AND SPEAKING HIS WORD SALAD AND STILL STANDING?

"Ah! but let me make one thing clear, I have moments of lucidity, and I speak very clearly. And now I will speak with clarity...Friends! There are moments in my life that are really momentary...And it's not because one says it, but we must see it! Right? Well, that's the point!<9> " wORD sALAD ATTRIBUTED TO MARIO MORENA A/K/A CANTINFLAS whom, i think, bush emulates perfectly.

9. The great evader? Still standing? What are you thinking about?
He's the most isolated and "handlered" president in my lifetime. I guess that's eavasion, but I don't see anything especially great about it, especially with the free ride the media seems to give him. Muhammed Ali floating like a butterfly he ain't.

10. then why is he still in office? why hasn't he been impeache?
why was he re-elected in 2004? why, even, was he admitted to the oval office in 2000?

he certainly knows how to sting and not to be stung...on his own or through handlers.the guy throws the punch and doesn't get hit back.

12. Gore says Bush has a feral kind of intelligence
He's not a deep thinker but he understands gutter politics very very well and he has no discernable moral boundries. He understands and appeals to the lowest common denominator.

Because he mangles the English language people think he's stupid and tend to underestimate him. You know, Cheney is the real President, it's all Karl Rove, Bush is an idiot. This lets him off.

Bush knows his base. He knows how to push their buttons. He knows how to be a hero to them.

When he talks like an illiterate cracker--for example when he said to Brian Williams, "I have ekaclectic reading habits." they think he is laughing WITH them at the elegant college educated TV anchorman. The ultimate joke of course, is on Bush's base, because Bush's true interests lie with the economic elites that use people like them up and spit them out.

I personally think that he is the most dangerous political leader to arise in this country since its inception.

13. I thought that was Joe Wilson that said that...
bush is bright, in a feral kind of way...

A poster here at DU, someone in the medical field I beleive, actually had dinner with Wilson a few months back and related this as part of the conversation.

Sorry I have forgotten the DUers name, believes it starts with a P. Maybe someone will recognize who I mean.
Very well spoken, I may add.

Whether it was Gore or Wilson, I tend to agree. He's a nasty little bastard.
