Why is the ABC 9/11 propaganda piece targeting women
as their audience? At least it appears that way to me.

1) It's running against football games on the first weekend of the NFL season both nights. Men will not be tuning in.

2) The list of advertisers seems skewed toward women:

Wendys
Makers of Febreze.
Lowe's hardware stores.
Edy's Ice Cream.
Makers of Gatorade.
Makers of Secret Deoderant.
Mitsubishi Motors.
Weight Watchers

Are they counting on a bunch of scared soccer moms running to the polls to vote for their Republican heroes to protect them

11. Well.......
ABC has decided the best sponsor for its upcoming Sept. 11 mini is no sponsor at all.
After originally announcing its intention to air "The Path to 9/11" with limited commercial interruption, the network now will air both parts of the $30 million Harvey Keitel starrer without any advertising.

What's more, the Alphabet will potentially limit its backend profits by allowing consumers to download the complete miniseries -- for free -- via Apple's iTunes Music Store. Mini also will be streamed for free via ABC.com, and XM Radio has pacted with the network to make an audiocast of the film available to its subscribers.

13. This is bullshit...
once they got word of the potential controversy, the advertisers got scared and pulled out. ABC is really stepping in it this time.

2. Scare the 'Mortgage Moms'? maybe?
"your children's safety is more important than your empty wallet - the Dems can't be trusted to keep you safe?"

Is that their intended message?

4. They know women hate their policies
so they're trying to scare all those bits o' fluff out there away from the do nothing Democrats and back to protective Papa.

I don't think it's going to work. Women buy the groceries.

5. Sexist.
1. Women don't watch football?
2. Only Women eat at Wendy's and shop at Lowes and eat Edy's and drink Gatorade and drive Mitsubishi's and use Weight Watchers?
3. Secret is the only female product You've listed. So if I see a lot of beer commercials for a program, is it safe to say the producers are targeting only Men?

What year is this at DU? 1953?

8. Sorry, but that's the way advertising works...
Of course not "only" women consume these products that's why I used the word "skewed".

maybe it's the advertising industry that's sexist. It is targeted to specific demographic groups. Yes, beer commercials largely target men.

Watch those commercials and judge for yourself who they are targeting.

14. Bullshit.
Lowes?
Gatorade?
Um, there are ALWAYS more men than women in the Lowes I go to. I can guarantee more boys and men drink gatorade than girls/women.

If all of the ads were for Pampers or Diet Coke or Makeup, I would agree.

16. Who buys the gatorade for the men and the boys?
and lately Lowe's has been targeting more women. Again, I used the word "skewed".

18. Lowe's marketing has always been directed toward women...
Women traditionally make up the 'home decorating' market.

Or so says a RW Real Estate Agent I know.

So, it's a good assumption women are being targeted.

7. I'm thinking its a move to defuse the 'Jersey Girls'...
They're pressing for new/REAL investigations.

Plus, in the RWers sexist minds women are easier to scare than a bunch of
draft dodgers like them.

Leave it to Disney to screw up a story... They've been doing it since before color was invented.

Makers of Febreze = Proctor & Gamble
Makers of Gatorade = marketed by Quaker Oats Company, a division of PepsiCo
Makers of Secret Deoderant = Proctor & Gamble

that would be my guess. They have a promo showing Condi Rice talking about hearing about the planes hitting and talking about her "po, po", or some such referring to her father. Eeks!

21. The helicopter moms of the affluent suburbs were a factor in
getting the Bushboy votes last time.

The Minneapolis Star-Tribune ran an article just before the election about a woman in one of the second-ring suburbs (Minnetonka), who was voting for the Bushboy because the Russian school siege (the one in which Chechen rebels held schoolchildren and teachers hostage) had made her fear for her children's safety, and she knew that the Bushboy was "fighting terrorism."

Now someone who thinks along those lines is too stupid to vote, in my opinion, but I'm sure she wasn't the only one.

The Bushies are probably aiming for the demographic of Mothers Who Believe Everything They See on TV and Think There Are Kidnappers Behind Every Tree.

23. The film will NOT have advertising - your list -
The original post listing those sponsors states they're POTENTIAL - the list was compiled because those companies advertise on ABC from 7-11 pm.

Those sponsors have not been connected to the film "Path to 9/11".
