using a procedural technicality the vote of no confidence was stopped by repubs.

In the past we've seen the rush to vote by repubs - shouts of NO MORE DEBATE - VOTE NOW, and refusing to even consider amendments etc being offered by DEMs

but yesterday - instead of turning it into some big PR event to "force" the DEMs to vote for/against something - the repubs dug up a procedural technicality which prohibited voting on the resolution.

why? Seems to me the repubs didn't have the votes/support to defeat it, nor did they have any poison pills to add to it.

Are the moderate repubs throwing away their rubberstamps and standing up? (at least between now and the (s)selection)

1. Agree

rummy is an incompetant twit who has been wrong on every key decision he's had to make. He's a danger to this country, our safety and security and to the troops he is supposedly responsible for. He's an incompetant bastard who needs to be chucked out of his position ASAP.

2. It's not that they may or may not have had the votes.

It's that the individual Senators would've been forced to go on record as to whether or not they support this administration. It could've been absolutely deadly to Republicans heading into an election.

On edit: Whether or not it passes, and however Republicans would've voted, this would've been killer.

What would be the best way for Bush to kill multiple birds with one political stone? (Killing stuff is always such an apt metaphor when speaking of anything related to Bush). How could Bush at once a)Silence democratic critics; b)Appease the moderates and the DLC; c) Appeal to his war-mongering, faith-based base; d) Provide weeks of non-stop positive coverage for the GOP campaigners and his own legacy, for taking tough action in response to the will of the people, blah blah blah blah...; e) Bitch-slap the Ned Lamont supporters and send a message to other would-be stragglers?

What simple act could hand all of these victories to Bush on one big fat gilded platter?
