KCRA 3 Investigates: Military Accused Of Lying In Soldier's Death

POSTED: 7:09 pm PDT September 6, 2006
UPDATED: 7:27 pm PDT September 6, 2006

SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- A KCRA 3 Investigation has exposed the military lying about soldiers killed in Iraq.

Their families were told the soldiers were killed by insurgents, but the Army's own records show that's far from the truth.

Family members and other soldiers are calling it a coverup, and said the U.S. military does not want the public knowing the truth. They said American soldiers are being killed by their allies -- killed by the same soldiers they're training.

snip...
But documents obtained by KCRA 3 show the military lied to the families, and that the story about an ambush and insurgents was far from the truth.

According to the Army's own records, the actual reports, and notes that were taken by investigators in Iraq, the military knew right away that it was not insurgents that McCaffrey and Tyson were shot by, it was two Iraqi soldiers they were training.

2. Sure does

But it took two years for the military to contact the families and finally tell them the truth.
