5. He needs to sue for LIBEL . . . a War of Words won't cut it
Edited on Thu Sep-07-06 12:58 PM by pat_k
They must be formally accused. Real justice must be sought.

Anti-Fascists are great at complaining, but rarely do leaders on our side actually DO SOMETHING.

I'm sick of it. If he stops at complaining that it's "Despicable," and fails to actually bring legal action, he is allowing the lies to stand.

This is far more than defamation of Clinton personally. The nation pays a high price for the lies that are allowed to stand, unchallenged. (A war of words, not backed by concrete action, in not a challenge -- Joe Wilson has it right. You must take their lies into court.)

If there is a high profile case (and you don't get much higer profile than a lawsuit by our last legitimately elected President) the spotlight would expose reality (the opposite of their fantasies). It doesn't even matter if the case gets bogged down in legal wrangling, a real court case forces it into the court of public opinion at a completely different level. Suiing is a statement that you mean it when you say "this is despicable."

If they just argue and complain, and don't take legal action, they won't make a dent.

If John Kerry had immediately filed suit against the swift boat lies, the liars and their lies would have gone down in flames. He would have shown strength by taking a REAL stand, and his heroism all those years ago would have been brought into the spotlight.

For those, like me, who confuse slander and libel, this from wikipedia:

In law, defamation is a right of action for communicating statements that may harm an individual's reputation or character. The common law origins of defamation lie in the torts of slander (harmful statement in a transitory form, esp. speech) and libel (harmful statement in a fixed medium, esp. writing but also a picture, sign, or electronic broadcast), each which give a common law rights of action.

11. Here is a link to the letter from Clinton's attorney:
Full Text Of Letter From Bill Clinton Lawyer To ABC Obtained
By Greg Sargent | bio

We've just obtained the full text of a blistering letter that Bill Clinton's attorney, Bruce Lindsey, has written to ABC chief Bob Iger protesting the network's decision to air the 9/11 docudrama, "The Path to 9/11." The letter demands that the network pull the miniseries unless it corrects all its errors: "The content of this drama is factually and incontrovertibly inaccurate and ABC has a duty to fully correct all errors or pull the drama entirely. It is unconscionable to mislead the American public about one of the most horrendous tragedies our country has ever known." The full text of the letter -- which was first written about in today's New York Post

The lies are already "out there." A lawsuit needs to follow if they fail to fully correct the record (and they will fail to do so).

Keeping the lies off the air is not enough. The truth must be told.

12. Despite the Rw's on MSNBC, they seem to be the only ones....
asking any truley hard questions. They are hitting the ABC 9-11 movie hard. (Couldnt be because NBC and ABC are rivals) But, we only see a news person like Keith Olbermann on MSNBC.
