Disney are now saying they will not release a film politicizing 9/11 so close to an election.

Oops, my mistake, sorry... It was 2 years ago and the movie was called Fahrenheit 9/11.

Shouldn't we all be asking why they are releasing their 9/11 TV-movie so close to an election even though they used the same rationale to cancel Farenheit 9/11's release? Other than the word "breaking" your subject line is totally accurate, and it truly points out the hypocrisy of the administration.

People have to remember satire is not always based on things that are funny, satire takes aim at deadly serious issues. Sometimes we need to poke fun at deadly serious things however, in order to make people reallly think about those issues.

I have written some satire that I am sure some people were highly offended by, I poke fun at the extreme violence that is going on in Iraq. I make jokes about the children that were killed by our bombs. But those jokes are not meant to be an attack on those children, rather they are meant to make people think about the brutality of this war and to recognize the hypocrisy of people like Bush who talk about spreading peace and freedom while commiting these atrocities.

Remember Charlie Chaplin made a movie making fun of Hitler and the Nazi regime. Sometimes satire does look at deadly serious issues in humorous way, and rather than just getting offended we need to look at what the joke is really trying to tell us.

So lighten up everyone and don't be afraid to make jokes like this yourselves.

For one we already have the MSM to misinform us.

Democratic underground is used by many of us to quickly catch up on whats going on in the news. One can check out the Breaking news section, check out the greatest page, maybe not click on everything, and get a general idea of current events.

But then there are irresponsible posts like this one. It puts out wrong information that may discredit DU in general. _I_ understand satire, _you_ understant satire but not everyone does, especially those that are just looking for reason to make DU look bad.

Another reason is that bait and switch is just sleazy and frustrating in general.
