That's how occupied we are with this Path to 9-11 thing. Just by a quick count.

While I'm not criticizing anybody or anything, I'd just like to take an opportunity to remind everybody there's an election coming up.

And I'm wondering, if I were Karl Rove, what would I do? I mean, I've got this guy who's an absolute mess, he's an embarassment to his party and country. Anything he says and does puts the GOP behind another 5 points. So what to do? Why, put the other guys on the defensive. Criticize a politician who's been out of office for six years, and they'll be so upset that they'll forget about the election. That's what I'd be doing if I were Rove.

2. And maybe, what we should do
is not forget about the election while fighting the lie. Maybe what we should do is point out how this is just another case of how rightwingers are spoiled little children that can't take responsibility for anything they do, and have to blame everyone else for their own mistakes.

3. I can multitask.

Don't worry, I can spend some time today sending emails and making calls about this film, and I also can make calls to Congress about the torture legislation Bush wants pushed through, among other things.

No forgetting about the election.

4. You might beright
I would think they would push it back a little bit - but it certainly does fit into the pageant of vote republican or terrorists will eat your babies they are running. In that sense it's worth answering. If it is part of their efforts to paint Democrats as untrustworthy - - well should we answer those charges?

Oh and is this 58?

5. I think it is great
that the nation is having a discussion about the truth concerning the Clinton and Bush2 administrations in terms of national security. I think it is the exact opposite of what Karl Rove wants.

19. I agree with you whole heartedly
It also has the potential to wake people up the fact that just because it's on TV doesn't mean it's true. The ramifications of that also, being the exact opposite of what Karl Rove would want.

20. Exactly.
A program can have fictionalized scenes, without being dishonest. This flick is dishonest. It is no better than a film that has a scene blaming Clinton for Pearl Harbor, or one that claimed Forest Gump was actually president on 9/11.

The American public is waking up to the fact that the corporate media is purposely distorting the truth, because they have an agenda to promote. The ABC/Disney film needs to be exposed for what it is: a subliminal ad trying to sell fear. The public isn't buying it.

6. But now, anyone who was "persuadable" . . .
Will watch this thing knowing that its accuracy is (to say the least) highly contested. All the brouhaha has, to some degree, innoculated the audience.

And it'll all go poof! on Monday (football season's starting, after all).

Leaving Republickers whining and waving their arms with "it's all Bill Clinton's fault." Making them look more ridiculous than ever.

Outside of the unpersuadable base, I think this thing's going to backfire.

...and that bitchin' solo...ONE note, played OVER and OVER and OVER and OVER again...

9. I think there is a very good reason why 57 of 80 threads pertain to
the ABC "docudrama".

Right now, this film is looming as the biggest threat to the electoral chances of the Democrats this November. Also, it is an absolute outrage.

Democrats have to prevent the terrible damage that this film could cause, and I love the way that many of them are fighting this. Hopefully they may even be able to take this stinking mess and make a plus out of it. This absolutely MUST be exposed.

31. Why? And which part do you disagree with?
Terrorism has consistently been the only topic on which Republicans outpoll Democrats over the last couple of years.

There are a lot of very gullible people in this country, who will believe something just because they see it on TV. I've heard a number of otherwise intelligent people make comments that indicate that they think they learn something when they see a so-called "docudrama". And it wouldn't take very much. If this film causes 2% of the population to change their vote, that will make a huge difference in the composition of Congress next year.

34. Well, that's the thing, isn't it?
Terrorism.

The Bush administration is giving Indiana money to protect petting zoos from terrorists instead of New York, because New York doesn't have any monuments. So in other words, Bush is playing politics instead of fighting terrorism. So why isn't that our main focus instead of a TV movie?

12. Not to mention...
This disinformation is purposely timed to help struggling Republicans in this election. I see them clearly related. Stopping this propaganda in it's tracks prevents our children from being brainwashed and stops them from having a two day prime time infomercial on the values of neoconservatism and the incapability of Democrats to lead.

Clearly this is an election topic.

17. Anyone notice the "Was it Clinton's fault?" line from the media??
I don't recall any questions as to whether Reagan really did have some sort of responsibility for the massive AIDS epidemic, when "The Reagans" controversy flared up. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Reagans

"They that live in sin shall die in sin." --Ronald Reagan, "The Reagans," the main point of controversy.
