Have the GOP and ABC made a terrible mistake?
It is conventional political wisdom that you never rouse the base of your opposition before an election. It seems to me that is precisely what they have done.

2. Thank you for bringing that up.
We can only hope. I honestly think the GOP tactics of late are going to backfire (unless the fix is in on the election).

Thank goodness for their desperation and underestimation of those who would be outraged by this. :)

5. A number of things they've done recently have seemed
counter-logical to their cause. I wonder if there isn't a movement from within to bring down and expose the truth about certain members of the cabal.

37. I've wondered about that also....
I can't help but think there are other high placed powerful people and business types that don't like what has transpired under bush rule, and will try to prevent the total collapse of America and the economy...

Rove has kept his lips shut for a while, and now we know why.

His flappy lips are showing up at ABC/Disney. And it's only going to get worse.

Rove has his forearm deep off into the nether regions of someone at Disney. Hmm. Wonder who.

12. My most cynical theory
The election will be stolen again. To lend credibility to the election results there needs to be a "lightning rod".

Like the 2004 "values" voters, there needs to be an event or force that can be pointed at by the GOP after their upcoming 2006 amazing, come-from-behind win to say-- here's why the polls said one thing but the voters did another. People saw this movie and were pursuaded to vote Republican.

Plan B would be MIHOP II and martial law.

16. BINGO!
I was just about to post the same thing. This movie will give the GOP an "excuse" for the sudden surge in poll numbers and the big turnout of Clinton haters that feared for America's safety, and trusted the GOP more to protect them blah blah blah blah.

35. There were discrepancies in 2004
between exit polls and the actual vote tally that were never highlighted in the mainstream press. The same could happen in 2006. If the discrepancies were mentioned at all they were explained away with nonsensical theories such as the reluctant Bush respondent, or just glossed over.

And people never got a straight story out of Mitofsky & Co., the 2004 exit-pollsters. We only have the untainted Mitofsky data because it was accidentally placed on line for a few hours and people saved screenshots of it.

13. I've been blowing this trumpet for weeks.
The electorate is pissed--ultra pissed--at ChimpCo, the GOP, and the Repuke "rubberstamp" Congress.

I think that ChimpCo and their minions are basically f*cked for November. I can't think of anything they can do to fix it. Because when it comes to putting forth an agenda for the next two years all they have is "stay the course".

Yes, they will do their dirty tricks and might game an election here and there, but it's not going to be enough this time. There are upwards of fifty House seats, and up to nine Senate seats, in play--every single one of them held by a Repuke. The numbers on the Democratic Party side are tiny, a dozen races nationwide, none of which are in *serious* trouble. Never, in my forty years of political activism, have I seen things this one-sided. Not in 1974, not even in 1994 when the Repukes took 8 Senate seats and 52 House seats from the Dems.

I feel strongly that ChimpCo is going to continue to play the same cards as they have the past few days. But when push comes to shove, all the Democrats have to say is "Listen to the Republicans. They have nothing but 'Stay the Course!' We offer the US public real change, honest, open government, and real checks and balances. In January, Democrats will hit the pavement running with the following program..."

That's all we have to do. Plus, we have to relentlessly hammer ChimpCo and minions for their lies, and their sleazy campaign rhetoric.

14. It this movie airs, it is a victory for them.
Considering how many Americans still believe that Saddam was involved in 9-11 and that we have found WMD in Iraq, I believe that most Americans are oblivious to this controversy and would never be the wiser after watching this bullshit movie. And so all ABC and the GOP need to do to make this massive lie of theirs worthwhile is simply stick it out until the movie airs next week and their mission is accomplished: Lie to millions of Americans and start a campaign to establish these lies in our schools as historical record.

26. The MORON Factor
25-35% of the people in this country are MORONS. They will believe ANYTHING they are told, especially if it's on the truth seller itself.....Television!!

All that matters to the people who made this series, is that enough people see it, and then it's out there as an influence. Result: the MORONS will accept it as fact, and they'll tell 2 MORONS, and so on, and so on, AND SO ON!!

Pretty soon we won't know what the truth is(not that we do now), and the misinterpretation of history will be cemented.

21. They are airing a movie Sunday and Monday about 9-11 ...
... that contains fabricated and twisted events (read: lies) with a goal to blame the attacks squarely on the Clinton administration. If you go the "greatest" page of threads, you can see many specific instances of former gov officials pointing out the many falsehoods. The movie is produced by conservatives (including a personal friend of Limbaugh's), was pre-released ONLY to right-wing bloggers, talk-jocks, and other Republicans for review, including a refusal to give President Clinton a copy.

22. Pissing on Clinton even gets the "moderates" furious
Yeah, it's not a good idea. Plus, the fact they were warned and still ran it is going to put the press, who otherwise might scream freedom of the press, on our side on this one. If ABC was unaware it was a hatchet job, that's one thing. Knowing their producers are lying is quite another.

23. It gives us an opportunity!
If the GrassRoots and the Democratic Party seize the moment, the Republicans have given us an opportunity to CORRECT several misperceptions that the NeoCons catapulted into the public psyche.

Bill Clinton, Sandy Berger, and Madeline Albright started FDIGHTING BACK today! We can help them!

The most important LIE that NEEDS correction is that Clinton " didn't do anything to stop terrorism" A HUGE LIE.

Bush* and the REPUBLICANS dropped the ball that was HANDED to them by Clinton!!!!!

Familiarize yourself with these facts:

Spread the TRUTH whenever possible.
Remind EVERYONE that it was the REPUBLICANS who OBSTRUCTED Clinton's War on Terror at EVERY opportunity!

28. I'm wondering if this is the "Have you no shame?" moment for the Neo-Cons
Let's face it, if ABC/Disney air this travesty, it will open a whole can of worms in the form of criticism, accusations of lying, misinformation, and deception. They will have to provide explanations and answers because it isn't going to go away! I think with all that is happening, their "Myth to 9/11" will only solidify a increasing disgusted nation who will see them for what they are: neo-con fascists.

30. This is precisely what I don't understand.
I have seen the GOP make countless political mistakes that fly in the face of political reality....and come out of the shit smelling like roses. It's positively maddening! They are not the brilliant strategists and politicians so many make them out to be. They make tons of errors. But clearly something is operating in their favor. What the fuck is going on?
