Al Qaeda waited for Clinton to leave office to attack the U.S.A....
The previous attack on the WTC had failed. The Millenium Plot had been foiled. They were being chased around the globe by President Clinton's anti-terrorist team. Cruise missiles were launched toward bin Laden. More were ready to go when intelligence became available.

But after the 2000 appointment of George Bush, the pressure was off. Osama knew this was the time to ramp up and execute his most audacious plan. His agents were ignored by the Bush administration. George Bush was almost given the seat numbers and flights--the memo was titled, "Bin Laden determined to attack the U.S." and hijacking planes was specifically mentioned. but George just said it was CYA stuff on the part of the CIA.

You all know the rest of the story.

1. Yup. They waited for a wimp and they got one with Little Lord Pissypants
Bush was stupid, wimpy, and incompetent. Everything al qaeda dreamed of and waited for.

7. Yep -- and, true to form, Chimpy ramped DOWN pressure on Saudis ...
Edited on Thu Sep-07-06 03:39 PM by LSparkle
It didn't matter how many warnings Clinton's people gave them, the BFEE were bound and determined to make sure the heat was off their "dear friends" the Saudis once they were back in D.C. Clinton could have recommended attacking after the attack on the USS Cole, but do you think the BFEE would have done that? No fucking way!!!!

5. One might think that they knew bush would let it happen
My favorite line to piss off a "conservative":

"There would not have been a terrorist attack on September 11th if Clinton, Gore, or Kerry had been president because those men did not need a terrorist attack."

6. Bin Laden's personal grudge against the Bush family was
amplified once Junior came into office (the grudge regarding the military bases in Saudi Arabia put there by Senior). In a sick, twisted circle, 9/11 then allowed Junior to pursue his own personal grudge against Saddam by a complete manipulation of the facts, countless thousands of civilian deaths be damned...ain't life grand?

10. I'm confused.
If Bin Ladan was holding a grudge, then why did *jr fly his family out of the states after 9/11?

19. The"Offical Story" is that Osama was completely estranged; the
ultimate "black sheep" within the Bin Laden family. Therefore, according to all of the Bush apologists, we should have no worries about the 30+ years of business dealings between the Bush and Bin Laden families.

24. Since the bin Ladens have never legally disowned Usama
he is still a family member and therefore untouchable.

That's one of the reasons why the DOD let Usama leave Tora Bora. Special Forces from Fort Bragg had him surrounded and the brass told them to stand down.

26. Sounds about right.
Blood is thicker than water. I heard that the family still leant him money (to the tune of $50 million after he had become a terrorist. Of course that's just pocket change to them).

Has OBL been directly connected to these incidents? i assume so, but can't recall
any details from press stories at the time. Were these guys free-lancers or part of
the A'Q "team?" I do recall that the Saudi's did not co-operate at ALL with our investigation
of Khobar. Why? Easy to guess, the Wahabbi's don't want ANY snooping around...

25. Those bombings were nothing compared to 9/11
They knew Bush would just politicize it and grind his own axes. Clinton would have been forced to eliminate Al Quiada to save his neck. He could not use it for his own party's gain.

13. The VERY BEST statement I've ever heard about this. There is alway somebo
somebody who can say things the way they should be said - and boy, did you ever hit the nail on the head.

This needs to be sent to every talking head and our representatives:

"Al Qaeda waited for Clinton to leave office to attack the U.S.A"

Perfect answer to all the stupid Republican remarks on 9/11.

20. 234 days would be plenty of time for nearly anyone else to take
charge. Chimpolini wasn't then and still isn't. This presidentin' gig is just one more failure to add to the resume. At least he's consistent.

23. I've thought this for the longest time.
Yes, the WTC and the Cole were attacked under Clinton's watch, but as you said, Clinton had people chasing Bin Laden and his pals all over the place. But when Bush got into office --- well, we all know that the Bush's and the Bin Laden's have been in bed together for years. Bin Laden probably knows what an idiot Bush is, so hey, with him in office, it's a much better time to pull off the second, and worst, WTC attacks.

28. I said it on another thread - if the Repukes could have proven it was
Clinton's fault, they would have started an investigation into what happened ON 9/12/2001 ... and Bush and Cheney would have provided all the documentation ...

happen only two months into his first term! Did President Clinton blame the previous administration? HELL NO, he stood tall like a man and went after the terrorists!

30. OBL knew the Bushes were incompetent and corrupt.
He had worked with them back in the Soviet days and knew how bad they were. He knew that if al Qaeda hit the jackpot and the Bushes could capitalize on it they would cut a deal to keep the terror thing going. Anything to gain more power.

I see a docudrama taking shape here.
