Disney said they refused to politicise 9/11 so close to an election.
Two years later, they reversed their position in order to curry favor with the Bush clan and their wealthy executives.
This is the only thing Democrats should dwell on. Forget the other arguments, they are a distraction.
Of course, if this movie airs then you have MSM Disney balls to the wall. They will not be able to use the argument again, next time a political documentary (say, anti-Iraq war, or case for impeachment) wants to air on ABC in 2007/2008. So maybe we should think long-term here. After all, I wouldn't have supported censoring a left-wing documentary or killing that Reagan biopic for being insufficiently adulatory.
Pointing out the hypocrisy is the only argument we should make because it works both ways. If they go ahead and air the thing, as seems likely, we have them dead to rights in terms of precedent for the next anti-war or anti-bush movie to air on TV.
(And really, there have been precious few -- all the neoliberal baby boomers in hollywood are too busy exploiting the carcass of 9-11 in movies like Oliver Stone's pic to make authentic films that actually change peoples minds. Even Michael Moore's films disappoint me in that regard -- they do not change minds the way classic "political" films do.)
On Edit: These are the threads I'm referencing:
BREAKING - Disney caves in, will not air 9/11 movie(this poster is referring to F9-11 in 2004)
