Why can't our Democratic leaders act more like they are now?
I'm amazed by the sheer level of anger and aggressiveness that Clinton and our Congressional leaders are showing over the ABC movie. They're actually HITTING BACK for a change! I just wish that they would do it more often...like from now until the GOP stops acting like a bunch of thugs!

4. That reminds me...
Why the fuck hasn't anything been done about the 2001 Anthrax Mailings? I don't believe that 9/11 was an inside job (especially not MIHOP), but based on what we know so far, and considering who the letters were mailed to, I'm suspicious about the letters.

5. They need to do more than
Speak in Senate sessions put out press releases that only the politically-informed will see. They need to be aggressively running ads showing Bush's failure on terrorism and national security.

15. that's just not a true representation of their efforts
Edited on Thu Sep-07-06 06:42 PM by bigtree
I don't know where you get your news, but their efforts are coming across just fine. As for the ads, they are running in each local race and the DNC contributes to many of them. It doesn't take much to look up and highlight their efforts. It makes no sense to assume that their efforts in their speeches and press releases are any less effective than the opposition. The Democrats have the issues on our side and are actively challenging Bush and his minions on every one of their initiatives. Like I say, it doesn't take more than a google to find their opposition registered in the press. Most of the ad money should, perhaps, be reserved for the races that have emerged from their primaries. Look in Conneticut. There's DNC money in the ads there. I just think the grousing about an inneffective approach is self-defeating nonesense when you consider the opposition is defending a failing administration and a disasterous occupation that Bush has yoked them to.

7. John Kerry on Hardball ... right now
Lordy, where was THIS man last election??? He's answering questions directly and firmly ... challenging the truth of what we're being fed by Bush & Co. He's forceful, effective, knowledgeable, and passionate.

Are the Dem's finally waking up to the fact that they can speak truthfully ... and will be heard, and supported by a fast growing base of internet political activists?

I hope we see lots more of this!! What an enormous contrast to those bumbling idiots, Bush and Rumsfeld et al.

20. He was often like this - why do you think the media
usually showed his rallies, while their talking heads described what he said. They also went to great pains to use camera angles that didn't show the crowd.

8. Clinton should've slapped down the Dems are weak on terror meme back when
it started within two days of 9-11.

Remember the vitriol directed at the Clintons during the Tribute to Heroes concert? They should've known by then that the spin against him was settling in, and that EVERY Dem candidate running in 2002, 2004 and 2006 would be necklaced with the lie that Dems can't handle terrorism.

16. I'm not saying that they don't point out the truth in general
Edited on Thu Sep-07-06 07:12 PM by Ignacio Upton
They do, but just not in a way that assures that what they are saying will get out to a broad spectrum of the public. As I said in an earlier post, they need to bombard the airwaves with ads showing Bush as a failure on terrorism and national security. They should be talking about, for example, his $6 million cuts to explosive detection at airports. They should be talking more about Dubai Ports World, and they should bring up Tora Bora and Bush's "not a top priority" quote in actual ads, instead of just mentioning them in press releases and in Congressional speeches that the MSM won't cover anyway. They should also be talking about Bush's obstruction of the 9/11 Commission, the PDB memo, and how FBI counterterrorism funds were cut in early 2001. Oh, and let's not forget the Hart-Rudmann Report. And what ever happened to the Anthrax killer? And how about those less than steller grades the 9/11 Commission gave? Bush always said he was a C student, and their report bears it out.

If the public knew the truth about Bush's record on terrorism (both pre-9/11 and post-9/11) there is no way in hell that the Republicans would have a chance of winning this year.

17. That's exactly the problem - too many here have poor retention skills and
they attack the same issues and the same Dems repeatedly with little knowledge of how many times or how adamantly the Dem has spoken to the same issue.

It's one of the reasons I end up repeating myself - if the GOPs can succeed by constantly repeating their lies, I should think we Democrats can succeed by staying constant with the facts and the truth.
