Christian Fundies behind Path to 911 aim to "transform film & TV" industry
Youth With a Mission (YWAM), a Christian fundamentalist organization, created an auxilliary branch, The Film Institute (TFI), with the goal of transforming the film and television industries "from the inside out."

This is from one of their member's websites, posted back in 2005 ( http://www.markandkrista.com/4559.html ):

So that's what we've decided to do. Starting in July <2005>, along with our 'normal' discipleship efforts in YWAM, we will officially join The Film Institute - a new auxiliary branch of Youth With A Mission focused on tranforming film and television from the inside out. TFI's first project is a doozy: simply being referred to as: The Untitled History Project, it is already being called the television event of the decade and not one second has been put to film yet. Talk about great expectations!

Our goal is to help filmmakers, actors, technicians, etc. realize their God given potential and purpose in perhaps the most influential sphere of modern culture - film and television.

And this from the same website ( http://www.markandkrista.com/30257.html ):

Our next big project is to assist in the development of the new YWAM auxiliary - The Film Institute (TFI). The Film Institute is dedicated to a Godly transformation and revolution TO and THROUGH the Film and Television industry;

TO it, by serving, living humbly with integrity in what is often a world driven by selfish ambition, power an money - transforming lives from within,

and THROUGH it, by creating relevant and evocative content which promotes Godly principles of Truth married with Love.

The Untitled History Project Begins Production July 25th.
Please pray for the Executive Team, the Director's Team, Department Heads, Actors, Crew and Interns. Also please ask that the project would reach its target budget and schedule objectives. - and don't forget to pray for us!

OP's note: The "Untitled History Project" referred to is, in fact, the ABC mini-series, "Path to 9/11."

1. If Christian crap was that well watched, you can bet there would be
nothing but that on TV. It will not pay to advertise on shows not watched.

11. You're missing the point.
Edited on Thu Sep-07-06 06:32 PM by keepCAblue
The point is that it is a Christian fundamentalist group and its auxilliary film production company who is behind the creation of "Path to 9/11"

Check out the related DU links in my OP. It's all there. The implications of this revelation is FRIGHTENING. If this one fundie group has the power to get ABC/Disney to air their Christian/conservative biased propaganda film (and commercial-free, at that!) without publicly disclosing the religious agenda of the production company, then the state of our "public airwaves" is in grave danger.

It is even more disturbing that a religious-produced "docu-drama" should be pushed into our public school curriculums, through the aid of Scholastic.

31. I finally got a chance to watch it. It was so boring. I usually love
movies with sub-titles, but I was bored in 5 minutes and had to turn it off in 10.

5. I'll bet ABC was willing to play this thing because it was offered to them
for free. The project appears to have been bankrolled by some rw nutcases with a big hairy agenda.

And told these people to lie?

Maybe Allah is the better God.

Great find and good job.

18. Allah IS God.
"Allah" is simply the Arabic word for "God". Many Arabic-speaking Christians, and yes, a few remaining Jews, use "Allah" to refer to the Christian (or Jewish) God. In fact, about 40 percent of Lebanese, including quite a few in southern Lebanon who just saw their towns rubbled :( , are Maronite Christian.

about the evangelical/fundamentalist/right-wing movement.. well..who's doing that now? not the democratic leadership..

I am glad they finally woke up, but this is the plan that's been in the works since FOREVER.. These are not the loony snake-handlers, or the swaying masses with hands-lain-upon as they are "cured", or the illiterati jabbering in tongues...

These are the ones in suits, with MONEY.. They are driving this bus.. The loonies are their foot-soldiers...

The really dangerous ones work in the background.

Is ANYONE attaching the ORIGIN of this "film" when it's talked about? Nope..they are usiing the "ever-respected" DISNEY as their shill...

If this were a film bashing Bush, you can be assured that "money-man, George Soros, or wacko- Michael Moore" would be used before the name of the film was even mentioned..

These are the same folks who quietly insert themselves into liberal/progressive organizations and industries so they can use their financial backing to destroy it from within..

They have done it with PBS, they have done it with the Sierra Club, with NPR, with many more as well..

They are parasites, latching onto their hosts and quietly destroying it...

All those years as they kept buying all those little podunk radio stations, local newspapers, cable companies, and small tv stations, the democratic leadership just treated them as buffoons throwing their money away..

They are not buffoons.. they are dangerous people..

20. Oh, that explains it.
Immigration is not the hot-button issue in the islands that it is at the mainland, perhaps because a) we are a community composed largely of fairly recent immigrants, and b) instead of a stupid fence, we built 2,400 miles of open ocean between us and Mexico. :sarcasm: Thus, Jeff Mikulina and the local Sierra Club can go about their business of protecting the environment without having to fight off rear-guard attacks from the reich-wing. Crikey.

That explains the Scholastic connection. They know they will lose this one so are planning ahead.

Dear Demons, your agenda has been found out. Our father has a special place for you on judgment day, and let me just say that the birds will not be singing. Who needs foreign religious fanatics when the US has people like you.

Yours,

Sounds like the Church of the Poisioned Mind, not like the will or words of any God. Is that actually in The Bible? The Republican version?

28. Jesus Camp
Friday, September 29 to Wednesday, October 4
Six Days Only!

Are we living in one nation, or two separate nations at war? This film is a first-ever look into an intense training ground that recruits born-again Christian children to become an active part of America's political future. Jesus Camp, directed by Heidi Ewing and Rachel Grady (The Boys of Baraka), follows Levi, Rachael and Tory to Pastor Becky Fischer's "Kids on Fire" summer camp in Devil's Lake, North Dakota, where people as young as 6-years-old are taught to become dedicated Christian soldiers in "God's army." The film follows these children at camp as they hone their "prophetic gifts" and are schooled in how to "take back America for Christ." In counterpoint are occasional observations by Air America commentator Mike Papantonio, who sees the “religious right” as “an element of American politics that threatens our sense of decency as well as our democracy.” Directors: Heidi Ewing, Rachel Grady. (US 2006) 86 min.

California Film Institute

Could this be a branch of The Film Institute? I have no problem with a Jesus Camp, but this seems extreme.
