"Being in custody is coercive" and any statement made while
Edited on Fri Sep-08-06 04:56 AM by Skidmore
being in custody could be called into questionn--before you even get to questions of information obtained through torture vs. info obtained through "coersive methods." This is soething Bellinger, State Dept. Legal Adviser, made in a press conference explaining *'s rant yesterday. How's that for twisted logic? Sounds like he's setting up an argument that torture is needed because to use due process is considered by them toe be a coercive method. How anyone can make a distinction between torture and "coercive methods" is a mystery to me. How these people can get a fair trial with a presumption of innocence after being tortured is beyond me. They should just be released.

1. Why is the legal advisor to the Dept. of State addressing this
anyway? Why not DOJ? Where's the DOD on this issue?

2. “I just want you to know that, when we talk about war,
we're really talking about peace.”
