Why would TV/Movie "stars" agree to be in the ABC 9/11 movie?

According to repubs the hollywood bunch are all liberals.

I have only seen a few snippets of the so-called docudrama, mostly as news stories on other networks, and I'm pretty sure I saw Harvey Keitel. I'm disappointed.

What other "stars" are in this movie?

I apologize if this issue was previously discussed. My search did not find anything.

5. Harvey Keitel says he didn't know it was going to be slanted:
http://www.crooksandliars.com/2006/09/07/harvey-keitel-speaks-out-on-path-to-911-it-turned-out-not-all-the-facts-were-correct/

<snip>
Keitel: Yea, I had questions about events–material I was given in the Path to 9/11 that I did raise questions about. Yes, I had some conflicts there.

Q: How was that met?

Keitel: With discussion..ummm with argument. When I received the script it said ABC history project –I took it to be exactly what they presented to me. History–and that facts were correct. It turned out not all the facts were correct and ABC set about trying to heal that problem..In some instances it was too late because we had begun.

Q: Do you feel that anything should be changed in this film?

Keitel: Yes I do. This is a tough issue.–(sure)

You can compile certain things as long as the truth remains the truth. You can’t put things together, compress them and then distort the reality.

6. I was surprised to see Stephen Root is in it
He plays Richard Clarke. Granted, I don't know much personally about Stephen Root, but I think he's great in a lot of the stuff I see him in. It won't really effect how I like him, but I admit I was a bit disappointed that he was in it.

16. A good actor to zero in on something about
Did you see O Brother Where art Thou?

I love Mr. Roots work. He was great in that film. But he was also a nasty-ass racist.

I don't think Stephen Root is a nasty-ass racist. I assume he was an actor playing a part.

9. Simple explanation
Actors do not get to read the entire script. This at least sounded like a good project.

For that matter, you could give every actor every page of the script. Film it exactly as written and still skew the results to something else.

Do not make the mistake of blaming the actors.

Producer, writers and the director maybe.

But not the actors. Except for Patricia Heaton. She is a RW jerk.

13. Heaton's DUMB and thinks Bodine's a Clintonite when she's a Bush1 loyalist
who was held over for her "expertise" in the affairs of that region - - another BIG MISTAKE for Clinton - - he thought these people were experts on diplomacy, but they were experts on manipulating the region for the BFEE - House of Bush and House of Saud.

14. Not blaming - just disappointed. But based on your post and the info
about Keitel from crooksandliarsI can see how the actors could film their parts not knowing how the editing, etc. would actually come out.

Good point.

I was not aware of Patricia Heaton's politics. That could explain why I never cared for her the few times I saw the "Raymond" show. I couldn't believe she actually won an Emmy for that.

22. In "Everybody Loves Raymond" she played a normal
American housewife, not a rabid right-winger.

The role was quite a stretch for her.

No wonder they gave her an Emmy.

12. Difficult to criticize? Don't be silly. To participate in nothing more
than an attempt to influence an election (do not delude yourself, that's what this is) shows absolutely no character at all. It is dishonest, it is (to use a very popular republican term) UNPATRIOTIC, and it is enabling the crooks, thugs, and corporate whores that are at the bottom of ALL of our problems.

A lie is a lie. And if you help tell that lie, well then...

11. I looked at the cast
over at IMDB. The film was partly filmed in Toronto and other parts of Ontario, so there are a lot of Canadian actors in it. I know a few of those actors, and it is just a role for them, and no statement on their politics. When you are struggling to keep going as a family, you will take whatever roles you are offered, because you need the money. There is no such thing as worrying about politics in such circumstances.

20. DOAP
Just to put things in perspective: I got to be a cop during the Chicago filming of the British "Death of A President" movie. Now, I had no idea what was being filmed, what the story was, or who the director was until I was in costume and filming commenced. That's really how it often works (especially on a budget-conscious project, like D.O.A.P. was). If I was a conservative (which I'm not), I might have been kind of steamed about it all - but trust me - work is hard to come by for actors.

32. I recognize quitre a few of the names
Patricia Heaton is a whining obnoxious right winger. I take her about as seriously playing the role as an Ambassador as I do Boulton in his role as a real-life ambassador

Harvey Keitel's name rings a bell but I can't think of what I've seen him in. Even doing an IMDB search doesn't bring up any movies I remember watching

Dan Lauria was Kevin Arnold's father in the "Wonder Years". I'm VERY disappointed in him -I always liked him as an actor and thought he'd know better than this

Wahlberg was of course in the Sixth Sense among other things

33. You don't understand. Don't blame the actors.
The actors have no way of knowing what the finished product would be like.

You need to get a clue. Barking up COMPLETELY the wrong tree!

34. I think a lot of them are not politically astute.
They may be liberal, but they don't follow politics too closely and probably didn't realize what they were getting into.

Actors are self-absorbed -- it's part of the job description.
