http://progressivedailybeacon.com/more.php?page=opinion&id=1268Ah, America, my favorite floundering child. It appears your Mister Cheney and my favorite puppy, pathetically sad little excuse for a man that he is, was more correct than either he or you knew. 'Tis never easy to watch anything -- neither animal nor man, neither plant nor ecosystem, neither climate nor star -- as it enters into its "last throes", but it is all the more difficult, even when 'tis by design, having to watch another one-time empire die.
Yet, once again, I'm forced to endure the sickening sound of the death rattle and desperate gasping for oxygen, only this time, as your Founding Fathers' little experiment is erased from the books of humankind. Oh, America! 'Twas such the grand act while it lasted. Lowly humanity daring to succeed where all others had failed. Yet, in the end, thanks entirely to the cumulative effects of greed, apathy, corruption, ignorance, cowardice, and fear; we must - I must - bid your empire adieu.
So, tell me my Little America, if you had it all to do over again, would you do it all the same? Would you do it all the same, if you had it all to do over again? Would you make the same sad decisions and reap the same damning results, or would you find the courage to reject my little Hounds from Hell? If you could America, would you remain silent while Florida birthed the beginning of your end? Would you remain the apathetic fools who allowed the Hounds of Hell to piss all over your democracy's Tree of Liberty or would you, as your Founding Fathers had, find the strength and courage to rebel against things Supremely given?

Look around America! To whom have the Hounds of Hell sold your soul? Do you know? From whence did the money come for to finance not one, but two wars - do you know? It didn't come from you, did it? No! They said, tricked you into believing, that you would not have to suffer nor sacrifice even one dime. The blood of your children, perhaps, but not one cent earned by the sweat of your brow! Indeed, they gave it all to their friends and a morsel to you and borrowed the rest from the next Great Empire now rising in the East. Poor, poor, poor America! Has no one told you, ''neither a borrower nor lender be''?

you should read all of it
the article ends thusly:
Ah, and what 'tis the cancer that brings the Empire to the deathbed? 'Tis greed, corruption, and apathy, of course, but most of all my Little America, Empires die within from cowardice, ignorance and fear. You bolted from the imaginary bogeymen hiding behind the closed door of your closets and beneath the bed where you lay your weary head, and jumped right into the flashing fangs of the Hounds of Hell. And you did it all in the name of Jesus Christ, because you were made ignorant of your own history.
Tell me my Little America, if you had it all to do over again, would you do it all the same?

there is no doing it over again
after listening to the depressing, ignorant, and religiously insane callers on Washington Journal this morning and knowing 70 congress people voted to keep on using cluster bombs, I'd have to say we are a bunch of cowards.
Lamb of c-span on W.J. this morning posed the question - did 9/11 change you?
9/11 didn't change me. I could see the bldgs. came down by a controlled demolition, etc. - the 2000 coup d'etat changed me. ever since the murders of the Kennedys and King I've had a simmering anger. 2000 changed it to rage. 9/11 outed for all to see the criminal bushgang. masterminds of all of the previous actions I've recounted.
they are still in power. we are cowards.
