1. Beats me.
There's a million and one things the dems could bury the GOP with, and they're hardly ever brought up.

2. Are we not Democrats?
You must mean our elected "representatives."

3. They have been -- but there's also a danger in that
I've heard numerous Democrats pointing that out.

But there's also a potential danger in doing that if by "coincidence" Osama gets caught between now and the election.

4. You missed yesterday's fireworks then:
The Dems instigated the add'l monies voted on and authorized specifically to help track OBL since dimson was doing such a lousy job of it.

Senate Approves $63 Billion More for War in Iraq

Published: September 8, 2006

WASHINGTON, Sept. 7 (AP) — The Senate agreed Thursday to spend an additional $63 billion for military operations in Iraq and Afghanistan as it passed a bill to finance military spending.

The measure was approved 98 to 0 after senators added money to help track down Osama bin Laden and to fight the opium trade in Afghanistan, which is helping the Taliban’s resurgence. The overwhelming support came despite Democrats’ increasing criticism of the Bush administration’s handling of the war in Iraq.

The bill now totals $469.7 billion. It grew more than $16 billion during a debate that began in July and was suspended during lawmakers’ four-week August recess.

Dorgan was on CNN at 12EST
and pushed that point quite hard (brought up GWB's use of OBL 17 times in a speach and kept getting the subject back to his capture when the interviewer tried to change the subject). Other than that, I haven't heard much else re this subject.

5. Where do you get your info?
I'm always fascinated by people who say Democrats aren't doing this or that when the very thing they're mentioning is exactly what the Democrats ARE pushing. Another aspect of living in bizarro world I guess.

6. Well, they did today!
I saw a press conference of a bunch of Dems about noon-time on TV (MSNBC?) Leahy, Rockafeller,Clinton et. al. I think it was Clinton who said it's been five years and we haven't caught OBL......maybe, parts of this will be on Oberman or elsewhere tonight. It was GOOD.

8. Harry Reid mentioned it a few days ago.
Five years after 9/11, America is less safe than it should be.

Today, only 6 percent of our ports are secure. Our chemical plans are vulnerable to attack. Our first responders don't have the right equipment and resources. The man responsible for 9/11 -- Osama bin Laden -- remains on the loose. And too many recommendations of the 9/11 Commission have been ignored.

9. Because what if the next day...
they catch him??

They don't want to set that up as a big deal, because then they will have contributed to the GOP's success, when it happens.

(Personally, I think the guy is a mummy.)

10. First Question: When did they catch him?
If he was caught several months ago and was "overlooked" when Bush cleaned out the secret prisons and is just trotting him out now, right before an election...........
