Cell Tower Could Be Disguised In Cross
Cell Tower Could Be Disguised In Cross

POSTED: 6:50 am EDT September 8, 2006

PALM CITY, Fla. -- After Hurricane Jeanne destroyed their steeple, members of the Crossroads Community Church didn't know where they would find the money to replace it.

So they prayed for an answer. But they never expected it would come in the form of a cell phone tower.

Businessman Paul Scott, who specializes in building disguised or "stealth" cellphone towers, approached leaders of the church last year with the idea of building a 120-foot-tall tower in the form of a blue-gray metal cross.

Concealed inside the top portion of the main pole would be antennas used by Sprint, Nextel and Metro PCS.

Scott said he would rent nearly 5,000 square feet of land from the church but would own the cross himself, then lease the antennas to the cellphone companies.

Now accepting phone calls to heaven...

2. I've been wondering if power comapnies and cell phone
companies could get together and hide cell phone towers inside functioning windmills as well.............

5. God must have call waiting
Because there's a lot of people down here calling the Creator to pray for the misery to end.

6. A good idea

Sounds like a good idea to me. I don't see the issue.

Churches can be beneficial to society, and anyway to keep them afloat without having them begging for money for books on cable is a-ok by me.

8. It's ok with me as well....
But it seems like churches are getting into business. Why stop there, why not have a Taco Bell, McDonalds, perhaps a Subway??

7. Well, at least its an excuse for a giant cross, and not just a gaint cross
like that crazy Domino's guy wanted to build.

Seems like a smart idea.

9. LMAO! Good gosh, "Jesus died for your Reception"...
How about a sign on top that says, "Jesus: King of the Antennas"! Can't believe Christians would allow such a mockery of their beloved cross. Oh wait, yes I can.

Maybe the Bible can be changed from "I thirst" (), to: "I transmit"! (:radio:)

10. Hey! I've seen one of those!
We have a disguised cell tower here in Morgantown, WV. It's disguised as a tree, and it's a lot less of an eyesore than conventional ones.

14. Precisely Velma...talk about false idols.
So now, how will we know if we are
looking at at a cross placed by Christians,
or a cross manufactured by the anti-christ
corporations?

Think about it...
It is an obscene and blasphemous idea.
Why not just install some atm machines in the base
of the drive in confessional towers.

15. Let's put up a statue of Mithra next to it
A big cross on the hill is just a rip off of Rio de Janeiro.
Let's put up a big statue of Mithra, or maybe a nice Athena.
(Artemis is a bit too graphic, i think)
