It is people like him why Israel decided to build colonial settlements in the West Bank and Gaza Strip in the first place. 9. He's already done that

Last season he made several pleas for a more conservative audience and he asked the audience to be nice to the conservatives. He lost what little respect I had left for him last season when he told Belzer to cool it when Belzer had the audacity to challenge the Florida Rep's contention that all the troops were well-educated happy campers. Belzer was trying to point out that there were a good number of troops who entered the military because jobs were scarce.

Two weeks ago, when he let Hitchens flip off the audience a couple of times, Bill confirmed my suspicions that he's more worried about himself than those who tune him in.

12. i don't see a problem

with him trying to even things out a little bit more. I wouldnt watch his show if he never had a conservative or two on the panel. It makes for interesting debate, which i believe is the premise of his show. Listening to the other side of the arguement helps to understand the reasoning and logic behind the stance. See their prespective makes it easier for me to prove them wrong when i end up talking to some bushbot.

19. If he would allow all the guests to express their opinions

instead of letting certain guests dominate the show it would be worth watching. Often he will let one guest, usually the neocon/RWinger, to dominate the guest panel segment. The neocon/RWinger usually just repeats the same crap we hear all the time, what we don't hear is the Democratic/liberal viewpoint. Sure, we share the Democratic viewpoint here but oftentimes the only exposure that Joe SixPack gets is from shows like Maher's. When Maher allows the repetition of the RW talking points but doesn't give equal time to other veiw points then a big opportunity is lost to educate millions who don't read the same things we see posted here on DU.

18. The difference is favoritism

In order to hear both sides of the argument you need a venue where both sides are given equal opportunities to present their views and are treated as equals by each other & the host. Maher doesn't provides none of these. Instead, he shows favoritism to the neocons/RWingers especially those he considers his friends. He allows them to overtalk other guests and intervenes on their behalf often when they are being pressed for specifics.

Moreover, Maher seems very unprepared for his shows since he got back from vacation. It's like he's phoning it in.
