Our feckless leader has been giving daily speeches, talks, pep rallies (he used to be a cheerleader, after all) and fund-raisers. It looks as though Dick Cheney and karl Rove decided that their best defense is an all-out offensive offense. Kind of like the Adm. Farragut going against the Confederate navy in Mobile Harbor, "Damn the facts, and fool spin ahead". I am more partial to the original, frankly.
Even though his popular support languishes at 33-37%, most PR people know that any face time improves people's reputations. The last time that King George tried this (with much less energy and exposure) his ratings rose, until reality set in again. So we can expect that this massive, broad, multi-headed psin offensive in advance of the October surprise and the November vote will change a few minds and increase his rating to 40% or so. The question is, will this spin offensive eventually backfire? Will people tire of this crap, the spin, the lies and the misdirection? Will people take offense at being called fascits appeasers? Will people find the whole choreographed movement offensive and insulting?
So the poll question is:
Will the Bush admin's current political offensive eventually backfire and turn people off?
