I hope they all die a painful death from AIDS for what they did to her.

Wis. Alderman Says Girl, 11, Has HIV

MILWAUKEE (AP) -- An 11-year-old girl who allegedly had sex with as many as 20 people as a 16-year-old girl watched and coached her has had HIV since birth, an alderman who met with the family said Friday. Alderman Mike McGee Jr. told The Associated Press that he met with the girl Thursday and described her as distraught.

"You can't expect her to be doing well," he said Friday. McGee said the girl feels like she was misled by the 16-year-old.

"She now is trying to sort out who to trust and who not to," he said. Her mother died of AIDS and the girl lives with family members, he said.

Shame on you.

My wish is for our justice system to be swift and accurate. Let a prison sentence be the outcome of their crimes.

If they have committed this heinous act, send them to jail. But to hope someone contracts HIV is just mind-boggling.

On Edit: HIV is not considered a punishment, no matter if someone thinks you deserve to contract the virus or not.

>But to hope someone contracts HIV is just mind-boggling.<

Eleven years old is not old enough to consent. This was a rape, plain and simple. Those participating in the rape were having unprotected sex with an eleven year old. I think HIV infection is the least of their worries at this point.

I hope the sixteen year old goes to jail, too.

14. Since the article states this all "allegedly" happened, I'll
reserve my judgment until after they are tried and convicted.

I do not disagree that if this did happen, eleven years old is not old enough to consent. That's not my point. My point is to wish that someone would contract HIV is gross, no matter what the situation.

Where I come from, HIV is considered payment for homosexual sins rendered.

16. If it only happened "allegedly"
then the risk of these people contracting HIV is only an "alleged" risk anyway. The only way that they will genuinely be at risk is if the rape was "actual" and not just "alleged". If that's the case, then I heartily wish them to contract it.

17. I guess that's the difference between you and me.
I could never wish that anyone would contract any disease, no matter how horrible a person. My hope is that if this did happen, then our justice system penalize them accordingly.

And when it comes to HIV, no one deserves to contract HIV.

11-year-old victim had suffered earlier sex assault

Girl attacked 5 years ago by relative living in father's home

By MARY ZAHN

Posted: Sept. 9, 2006

Sad and scared.

Those were the words an 11-year-old girl used five years ago in describing how she felt about
being sexually assaulted by a relative. One can only imagine her feelings now, after she was
sexually victimized by up to 19 men on Labor Day in a north side house. Court records portray
a motherless girl who longed for a mostly absent father and who tried to do the right thing
even when it hurt.

Her mother died of AIDS, leaving her 18-month-old daughter infected with HIV, records state.

The "secrecy and shame" issues associated with such a diagnosis are confusing and complicated for a child,
prosecutors wrote in 2002, in an attempt to explain the girl's feelings at that time.

snip-->

Meanwhile, health officials also got involved because of the possible widespread transmission of HIV.
"This assault was a horrific event, and we have horrific concerns," said Bevan Baker,
Milwaukee's health commissioner.
"However, a sexual assault of this nature is exceptionally unlikely to cause an outbreak in Milwaukee."
Baker said that the Health Department routinely recommends HIV testing for anyone having
sexual contact with an HIV-positive individual and for those who have engaged in other
high-risk activities.
The agency is working with the district attorney's office regarding HIV testing of the assailants,
he said.
Testing for other sexually transmitted diseases, such as chlamydia, gonorrhea and syphilis
is also likely, Baker said. Both gonorrhea and chlamydia rates are problematic in Milwaukee.
The city had the ninth-highest rate of chlamydia and 13th for gonorrhea in the nation in 2003,
according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

In 2002, Milwaukee had the sixth-highest chlamydia rate in the nation. <--snip

41. Last time I checked, we're barely living in a democratic society.
Which is supposed to uphold a Constitution that gives us an equal and fair trial.

I abhor child rapists. But because we have laws and government, we have to rely on the judicial system.

Here's yet another article posted on DU that contains an account that is disgusting, yet many people here are already convicting the accused. What ever happened to "innocent until proven guilty"? No matter how hideous the statements in this article are, why do people here always convict and execute before the accused are put before a trail of their peers?

13. No, this is good for them.
Well, minus shitty prison healthcare that won't manage their cases and will probably let them die 80s-style, wasting AIDS deaths.

They're going in to prison with the public, including prisoners widely aware that they are infected. This will reduce their otherwise high probability of being raped themselves.

I don't know, I would probably take a death from largely untreated AIDS over a life of sexual slavery to gang members.

But that's just me, and I'm not a rapist...

19. How is the article doing a "disservice" as far as transmission
is concerned?

What they cite is very accurate.

For instance, a person with HIV is most infectious right after transmission occurs, when the virus is trying to establish itself, and before the body has seroconverted, or produced antibodies to fight the virus. Even though a person has seroconverted, and there is less of the virus present, you can still transmit HIV, but the likelihood isn't as high as when first infected. Overall, a person is most infectious within the first 12 weeks, possibly the first six months after infection.

Also, the "bottom", or the one being inserted, is more likely to get HIV than the "top", or the one doing the inserting.

22. The article talks about this specific situation and the possibility
of transmission occurring within the parameters of this specific situation. This article does an amazing job of laying out the facts, whereas what most of the media does these days is project the meme that if you have unprotected sex you get AIDS (which does more of a disservice because you don't "get AIDS" from someone; you contract HIV).

This article gives the facts as straight-forward and as accurate as they come.

If you're worried about the children, be more pissed at the government, which still sends educational material out that says you can get HIV from sweat and tears. That, not this article, is a disservice not only to the children, but to all of us.

47. If she was raped by 20 men,
you have to consider the chances of transmission is higher than in a single unprotected intercourse. She must have been bleeding - from the first rape onwards if she had an intact hymen prior to the rape.

I hope she gets the help she needs, and I hope all those men are convicted to the fullest extent of the law, and that 16-year old as well.

But no one is ever "exposed to AIDs". And even if you are exposed to HIV, it doesn't mean that transmission has occurred.

HIV, FYI, is a virus that may lead to an AIDS diagnosis. I've come across many posts at DU where people refer to HIV and AIDS as the same thing. They are not.

28. Thanks again, have done HIV testing /counseling and am embarrassed
that I wrote that. Too fast writing and thinking. It would be good to have a general HIV/AIDS info posting in GD, perhaps after the 9/11 madness calms down. Put a disclaimer that asking it to not be moved but more of a general information thing, perhaps it might stay if phrased right as general discussion should include general things. Wait 'til 9/11 passes though since that is the topic of the week.

33. I'm not saying the 20 people who allegedly raped the girl deserve it, but.
I will say we live in a world of causality. As such, there are consequences for each and every decision we make. Whether they are good or bad depends on a lot of things. One of them is judgment. If they contracted the HIV virus that causes AIDs because they decided to rape this girl, then that's a consequence they have to live with.

Prison time for rape is another consequence.

deserves to be raped on a pinball machine in the back of a bar? Isn't the whole point of "The Accused" that she "deserved it" since she dressed rather provocatively?

:eyes:

Whatever.

Do people who have multiple sex partners who use condoms deserve to contract HIV, since condoms are not 100% effective in preventing the transmission of HIV?

And why do people at DU refer to AIDS as "AIDs". Am I missing something?

43. Whoa, I think you totally misunderstood my statements.
Edited on Sat Sep-09-06 01:26 AM by Selatius
I specifically said, "I'm not saying the 20 people who allegedly raped the girl deserve it..."

I did not assign a value judgment to the situation. To see causality in action, one need only study the blowback caused by corrupt US foreign policy in the world. 9/11 was a consequence of that. Does that mean I am saying it was okay to slaughter 3,000 civilians on that day in retaliation because the US government supports undemocratic regimes and bombs their peoples? No. A person can understand the context in which something happens without condoning what happened or assigning a value judgment.

Your comment, though, is rather offensive because I haven't seen--as far as I know--any evidence whatsoever that what women wear has an affect on the number of rapes.

Do people who have multiple sex partners who use condoms deserve to contract HIV, since condoms are not 100% effective in preventing the transmission of HIV?

If I said, "A condom can break," does that mean I just said people who have sex deserve to get AIDS or the HIV virus? Of course not. That statement is devoid of any value judgment. It is an observation, not a judgment.

There are consequences. No, no one "deserves" AIDS, or being raped because they were in the wrong place at the wrong time but there are consequences to everything. As far as "she dressed provacatively", bullshit. This is an excuse someone looking to rape may give, but they were looking to rape.

Women who are raped aren't even allowed that kind of information about their rapists. They have to get tested, wait 6 months, and get retested. How very kind of them to let the "alleged" rapists know about the girl's status. Assholes.

where a Child Molestor was tossed into the Jail and the look on his face as he was taken down by actual adult Rapists, Killers, Theives, and other scum was terrifying. NO ONE likes a baby raper, even people who murder people.

It was like demons were descending on him, to rip him to shreds, he slid down the holding cell window, dogpile on the rabbit time, and the cops did nothing. Looked like a death sentence to me.

Poor kid, hope she recovers, this is horrifying.
