The Truth about why they didn't bomb the camp:
Edited on Fri Sep-08-06 08:36 PM by The Backlash Cometh
The video of Tenet's testimony at the 9/11 Commission gives ample reason why they called off the bombing of the camp where they thought bin Laden was located:

(1) They were uncertain if bin Laden was even there; and,

(2) They were afraid of wiping out half the UAE Royal family. The same foreign family that wanted to buy our U.S. ports. Now, why doesn't the Path to 9/11 mention this so we can see a few lightbulbs go off among the Republicans?

I think Tenet was definitely uncomfortable about bombing the camp, as everybody else has said he was. One point that needs to be cleared up is that Tenet claims in the video that it was a collective decision not to bomb. Everybody else says they decided against it based on Tenet's advice not to proceed because they only had a single source.

Now, I wouldn't object to a scene depicting the above information, since it comes right out of the 9/11 Commission.

2. But the ABC fan fiction isn't based on the 9/11 Commission. It's
based on interviews with "Some Say." You know Some Say. Some Say inhabit every neocon propaganda piece.

3. I forget all the details but for something like 2 years
President Clinton has a nuclear sub in launch range of bin Laden camps with cruise missles on the ready just waiting for the CIA to pin point a location of bin Laden. But the CIA never could.

4. AND don't forget this:
The movie is eviscerating Clinton for not sending a $60,000 missile to bomb the camp, BUT, DURING THE LATE 90s, DIDN'T THE REPUBLICANS MAKE IT A SOUNDBITE THAT IT WAS STUPID TO SEND A $60,000 MISSILE TO BOMB A TENT?

I don't know the exact wording, but we have an obvious situation here, where the Republicans want to play it both ways. Damned if we do, and damned when we didn't.

7. I remember that
They also called it "bombing camels." Bush used those words himself.

10. That's it.
Do a search for camels, tents, bombing and bin Laden. You'll find a lot of old posts from right-wing bloggers who are criticizing Clinton because, (to paraphrase them) when he did send missiles all he got were camels and empty tents.

Tough crowd to please. All they were really interested in was destroying Clinton. If they had given the same zeal to getting bin Laden...who knows?

5. A single source? So that source could have been trying to get us to kill
the UAE Royals and OBL might not have ever been there.

Why would someone want the US to assassinate UAE Royals?
They want to overthrow the UAE dictatorship.
They want to embarass the US.
